I've opened quite a bit of the 2017 Donruss Football in the different options including a hanger box. This one was in the discount bin at the local Wal-Mart. The green colored hanger boxes are key as they guarantee a hit. I grabbed a Christian McCaffrey Rookie Phenom patch last time I opened one of these. This box's hit, Cincinnati WR John Ross, doesn't bring the same excitement as McCaffrey but a hit is a hit. Bottom line is I like this set from the base design, photos and variety. The retired legends is also a big plus for me. The only negative would be the lack of position on the cards.
Tons of variety in these boxes and I really enjoy the "Kings" cards so finding these is always fun. I'm a Joe Thomas guy so this Salute to Service card was a fun pull.
There are so many different inserts in this set and these boxes allow you to see most of them but there are even more subsets I didn't pull.
I didn't grab a Patrick Mahomes III rookie but this set has plenty of key rookies to offer including Mitch Trubisky, Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara, Deshaun Watson, and Leonard Fournette just to name a few.
The variety will definitely be a big plus for those who are looking for more than just base cards.
I had a good pull from this box. There was plenty of star power even if I didn't see some of the key rookies you'd want to find. I don't doubt I'll grab more of this set as I get the opportunity.

ReplyDeleteThe variety is definitely a strength of this set. Something for most everyone.
DeleteThis post makes me with I'd bought less 2016 Donruss football and more 2017 Donruss football.
ReplyDeleteI liked the 2016 offering as well but I've definitely been in the same boat where I wished I'd waited a year before putting so much into a set.
ReplyDeleteFantastic action shots. Love that Hornung!
ReplyDeleteI did too and had to put him at the top.
