Random Wax: 2021 Donruss Baseball

2021 Donruss:  Outside of the lack of team logos this is still a bad design.  A pack I picked up in April of last year I just haven't gotten around to posting it yet.  Can't go wrong with this guy who is hitting well after coming back this year from an injury that caused him to miss the World Series last year.  Fun to watch him play.
Can't complain with my pull which included some great pitching and Trea Turner who will be one of the biggest free agents on the market after the season.
A couple of variations including a Biggio Independence Day and Joey Gallo nickname variation.  Gallo is a Dodger nowadays after it didn't work out with the Yanks.
The Retro 1987 cards are fun mostly because we get to see retired greats. Not sure why they just didn't go with the black borders.  Would have made it a better nod to the originals.  Always love pulling Carew who was so freaking good.  Dude won seven (7) batting titles and if you look at some of those numbers they are crazy.   He needs to get more love and more shots on trading cards.
Arenado is having a great year for the Cards and I think he can become a free agent if he opts out?   I hear it is doubtfull he'll opt out.  Don't quote me but a defensive stud like him who can hit would be an amazing pickup.  One of my favorites in the game today.  Unfortunately, he plays for the Cards.  ;)  By the way Munoz is having a good start to his career as a reliver now playing for Seattle.

  1. While lots of randomness in these Donruss sets, I didn't think Trending was that bad of a pop culture-like insert.

    1. It is a good looking card. Never know what you'll get in these. Kind of like a box of chocolates?

  2. When I'm old and forgetful, I don't wanna look at that Carew card and wonder when he played for the Yankees...or Red Sox. Thanks for the showing off the cards!

    1. It is a good looking card. Luckily free agency and trading during Carew's career isn't like it is today. He played his entire career with just the Twins and Angels.
