1988 Fleer: My next installment of '88 Fleer packs from the box I purchased last year. Jose Cruz is a guy I always liked growing up. He played until he was 40 and ended his career with 2,251 hits hitting .284 over 19 seasons.
Some good star power here. Doc Gooden headlines the pack amongst players on their own card. Pedro Guerrero batted .300 over his 15 year career and Cecil Cooper was a five time all-star known for his hitting (.298 career) but also twice led the league in RBIs.
Weiss was a big part of that great A's run in the late eighties/early nineties.
As always the stickers are fun.
And the backs of the stickers are even more fun.
Gene Garber was a Brave in my prime baseball fandom growth as a kid. Loved that sidearm delivery. He had a good career and, I'm not throwing shade, but once lost 16 games as a reliever. We'd never see that in a season nowadays.
Gwynn is definitely the star of this pack. Coleman was always fun to watch stealing bases and who doesn't like John Kruk.
Really good pack. Nice star power and tons of memories with every card. Not a big fan of the design on the All-Star Team cards but I do like that they have All-Star cards in the set. This guy had some dominant years as a Blue Jay and a great career ending with 300+ saves. His best season may have been his last at age 37 with the St. Louis Cardinals.
