Seinfeld: I recently rewatched the Seinfeld series and just wanted to share a few thoughts. I did this over time and would usually watch an episode prior to going to sleep. With 172 episodes it took some time, but I found myself looking forward to watching them each night. I enjoyed Seinfeld when it came out, and I still do today, and that is even after watching reruns for years once it went into syndication.
Some of my favorite episodes include The Contest, The Comeback, The Hamptons, and The Opposite. I'm sure I'm forgetting many more. In my memory, I didn't like the heavily criticized finale when it originally aired (and I don't think I'd seen it since). I'll say this time around I was fine with it. Not sure what changed but something did. There were so many ongoing plot lines and characters that were fun too. Watching it through and giving each episode my full attention, it was much more enjoyable than just having it on in the background. It's also easier to catch the nods back to past episodes. I'm glad I did this. I really like Seinfeld, and it was really fun to do a rewatch of the entire run. And I'm on to my next rewatch...
My favorites are The Boyfriend, The Puffy Shirt, and, The Marine Biologist.
ReplyDeleteSeinfeld marathon on Comedy Central today... COSTANZ-A-THON!
Good Job! 👍
Always fun!
DeleteI'm nearing the end of a Seinfeld rewatch with my wife-- her 1st time seeing most of the episodes after not really ever being a fan, while I've seen them all several times already. I don't know if she's been completely won over, but she's at least not really anti-Seinfeld any more, so I count it as a win.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that is a win.
DeleteWhile some of it is funny, I just felt like all the show did was have the characters complain about their significant others.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will grow on me if I give it another try now that I’m older.
You are right. I think that's a big part of the show. The characters are pretty self centered people and that's how they play it. Can be funny but I get it might not be for everyone.
DeleteI like Seinfeld.
ReplyDeleteFun show.
DeleteSoup Nazi.
ReplyDeleteIt is a classic.
DeleteIt weird, I watched Seinfeld during its first run but am not interested in seeing the reruns - It even had great sports angles , George working for the Yankees, Keith Hernandez but it just seems like a show to watch in its moment of time. Same way with Cheers, I never missed it on Thursday nights but I have no desire to go back and watch any reruns - maybe there is name for what that is called
ReplyDeleteI think it's a comfort watch for me that I could do before going to sleep. But there are many shows like that for me so I get it.
DeleteStill watch the reruns on Comedy Central. I appreciated the finale for what they tried to do, folks didn't like it because it wasn't funny.
ReplyDeleteI would agree.
DeleteGreat show. One of my all-time favorites. Haven't gone back and watched the entire run, but I will rewatch specific or random episodes from time to time. I have it on my NF watchlist as well as own all of the seasons on DVD, but the odds of me going back and watching it in its entirety are low. I'm more likely to rewatch Breaking Bad. Game of Thrones, or the 2000's version of Battlestar Galactica again.
ReplyDeleteI still have to see Game of Thrones! LOL
