Georgia Bulldogs 2019 Season Preview

Georgia is good, really good and last year's 11-3 finish was really disappointing.  An in season loss to LSU and a close loss to Alabama in the conference championship were heartbreaking.  By the time the loss to Texas in the Sugar Bowl came along it was tough to care anymore.  Two years from a National Championship game appearance Georgia is ranked #3 in many polls headed into the season.  With Jake Fromm (30 TD/6 Int) returning there's no reason to believe Georgia can't compete again this year at the highest level.

The rest of the offense is good to really good to great.  There's no reason they can't contend come season's end.  Notre Dame and Florida loom as big games during the season.  The Bulldogs will need to put their stamp on the season by beating those teams.  Though a loss may still get them in the SEC Championship that's not where you want to be.  You want to be that elite team.  Be undefeated when you meet who we assume will be Alabama.  Get to the playoffs and take care of business.  Easier said than done but now is the time.  Fromm is at the top of his game, the Bulldogs offensive line is excellent and the offense as a whole should be able to pound teams into submission.  It is great seeing Georgia's rise to prominence but it is so hard seeing them come up short.

College classes go on...

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.  Just been busy with life and school.  Thought I'd update ya on how the whole college thing is going.  In November I posted here about my initial efforts of taking college courses via the Internet after taking almost 20 years off from studying.  I've now taken a total of four courses.  Yep that's it, only four.  Pretty pitiful.  Yes I work a full-time job, commute a total of 1 1/2 hours each day, and have a life involving a wife, kids, extended family and friends.  But that is no excuse.  Motivation, some might say laziness, is my biggest issue.  None of the courses were overly hard but there is plenty of homework.  And that is where I find my issues.  Trying to be excited about homework after a day of work and on the weekend is tough.  I'd much rather be doing anything else.  I think the actual class work is easier thanks to age and maturity.  One thing that hasn't changed unfortunately is my will to do homework.

But I press on.  A change of jobs is on the horizon whether that is three or five years down the road.  A degree will help and in today's era of fiscal belt tightening I want every advantage I can get when it comes to a job search.  Especially since the whole lottery thing isn't working out so well.  I still have a ways to go.  I'll take a break the rest of this year due to work issues.  I'll be on the road and dealing with training which homework won't gel with.  That also means I'll have to hit classes hard next year.  I may need to adjust some of my habits but I'll persevere.  So no matter how much I moan and groan about homework I'll keep going.  And I'll let you know how I am surviving...

I really, really don't like homework...

I really, really don't like homework.  After an 18 year absence from college I recently jumped back into the fray.  I'd love to say I was all gung ho but really I just caved to peer pressure.  Ugh.  Not to say it isn't a good thing.  I already have two years of college completed so I'm two years from a four year degree which should be helpful as I look at possibly retiring in a few years.  So it is a good thing...I think.

I really, really don't like homework.  I just finished my first six week session.  What the heck was I thinking.  I'm taking online courses so not only am I having to adjust to school once again I also have to experience it in a completely different way.  And it sure isn't what I remember.  I had to apologize multiple times to my teachers for not getting something uploaded correctly or missing an assignment that I couldn't find.  So navigating the web to find my assignments, ensuring I get everything uploaded, coordinating group assignments with classmates around the country and keeping up with homework was enough to make me ready to pull my hair out.  And the homework!  Nothing like getting up for work at 5:30 in the morning and returning at 5:30 in the evening knowing I had maybe two hours of work to complete.  That was my life Monday through Thursday.  Did I say i don't like homework?

I really, really don't like homework.  I'm not saying the classes were bad, the web design and user interface were poor or that there was too much homework.  Just the opposite.  I'm just saying it was an adjustment - a big one and it wasn't easy.  I'll definitely be more ready come January when I take my next courses.  So no matter how frustrated I was I highly recommend returning to college for anyone in need of completing their degree.  Online courses in particular allow for many different options that I think would appeal to older students.  But if you've been out of college for some time and will be looking at online courses be ready for some adjustments.  And good luck.  Did I mention I really, really don't like homework?
