Random Wax: 2021 Playoff Football

2021 Playoff:  Tom Terrific has 13,400 playoff passing yards in his career.  #2 is Peyton Manning with 7,339.  That's crazy.

I've always liked the Playoff brand.  A few good looking designs over the years including this one.  Josh Allen and the Bills are off to a 2-0 start and are looking good.  They get the struggling Chargers today.  Allen is already 14th on the all-time playoff passing yards list with 3,915.  Cameron Jordan is in his 16th season in the league with 132 sacks to his name.

Love the retired greats in these sets.  Chad Johnson was a 2X 1st Team All-Pro which is no easy feat.

Najee Harris has rushed for 1,000+ yards 4X in his career.

A-A-Ron and the Steelers' offense are struggling this year, but he looks good on this Call To Arms insert.  He's 3rd in career playoff passing yards with 6,040.

Jalen Hurts and Matthew Stafford have thrown their fair share of playoff passes but not on the scale of those others.

John Elway is 9th on that list with 4,964 yards passing in the post season.

Random Wax: 2021 Score Football

2021 Score:  Josh Allen and the Bills have high expectations again this season.  Hopefully some of the small tweaks and coaching change can get them over the hump.  He passed for 3600+ yards and 25 touchdowns.  He also added 14 touchdowns rushing.  Not his greatest year but one almost any team would take.

Wow, the quarterback landscape has changed in the last 5 years.  And yes, I bought this pack 5 years ago and showing it off for the first time.

None of these three made their mark on the NFL.

These 3D inserts are pretty cool and include retired greats.

I really like that Deion card.  I'm a fan of him and he looks great in the GOAT Falcons red jerseys and all the red works for me on this Game Face insert.  I do like the Next Level Stats but I'm not sure those stats are really "Next Level Worthy".  No offense to Chase Claypool and maybe I'm missing something.  Derrick Henry on a Score Team insert.  Henry is still a beast.  He rushed for over 1500 yards and had 16 touchdowns last season at age 31.  

Good looking Collegiate Champions insert.  I'm a big fan of these with photos from both college and the NFL.  Reggie Bush was also part of that 2009 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl winning team.

I like all three of these photos.

NFL games start tonight and I can't wait!  Some great tight ends and another retired legend.  We'll end it with a great Davante Adams photo.

Random Wax: 2021 Prestige Football

2021 Prestige: Myles Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams during this offseason.  He had 23 sacks during the 2025 season at age 30.  This guy is a beast, and the Rams D just got a lot better.

Not a huge fan of all that white on these cards.  This pack was bought in 2021!  Just now showing it off.  Sounds like Tyreke Hill's injury was pretty nasty, and we may not see him this season.  Tough for such a good player.

Prestigious Pros is a good-looking insert.  Ben Roethlisberger would go 9-7 and make the playoffs in his final season with Pittsburgh in 2021.

Zach Wilson is the only player of these three who is still in the league.

I like the photo on this Highlight Reel insert.  And crazy we are talking about Justin Herbert's debut.  Six years ago already.

Xtra Points Parallels and a Time Stamped insert.  These aren't bad cards and I like that Jonathan Taylor pull.  He recently got a nice contract extension.  I'm a big fan of his.

Seasons Greetings inserts are good looking cards.  I like how they did these.  Fun pack of cards.  Enjoy today's first slate of Sunday games!

2026 Topps Football Hanger Box

2026 Topps:   Jaxon Smith-Njigba is not only a stud wide receiver with a new record-breaking contract, but also a world champion thanks the Seahawks' surprising Super Bowl run.

How Mahomes comes back from injury will be a big story this year and help shape how the AFC plays out.  I'm rooting for him to make a good comeback.  We've already seen this design with the 2026 Topps baseball release.  I like the design and it works here as well too.

The backs lack the career stats we see with baseball.  I don't know why that is and it's very disappointing. 

Plenty of youngsters to go around.

Team card and its back.  I'd rather have team stats and team leaders here but it's hard to argue with the starting lineups.  But still, I want to see numbers.

Here we have 2 Diamante Parallels, exclusive to hanger boxes, and a Holo Foil Parallel.  I'm a fan of the Diamante parallels so I tend to pick up hanger boxes.  You get 2 in a box.

Horizontal offering.  Not enough of these in the set for my taste.  Football looks good in horizontal photos.  There are 400 cards in the base set.

James Cook ran for over 1600 yards and for 12 touchdowns last season.

I really like League Leaders cards and these look good.

Another QB coming off injury, Daniel Jones' play will determine how the Colts do this year.  They were 8-5 with him starting but lost the last 4 games, and last 6 overall, to miss out on the playoffs.  Was last season a fluke for Jones or is he the real deal?

Combo Cards always highlight some type of combo or duo.

Inserts in this box included Greatest Hits, All-Topps Team, 35th Anniversary and Pressure Cookers.  I like all of these.  Not a big fan of 1991 Topps but the tweaks here help.  I like the contrast on the Greatest Hits, and I've always been a fan of "All-Topps" teams.  Enjoy day 1 of the NFL football season!

Random Wax: 1992 Upper Deck Football

1992 UD:  Joe Montana was just amazing.  Four Super Bowl wins never throwing an interception in those games.  MVP in 3 of those games and you can tack on 2 regular season MVPs for good measure amongst all the accolades he's gotten in his career.  Just crazy great and would have been so much fun to watch in today's game.

Kosar and Lathon went to 1X Pro Bowl while Ken O'Brien went to 2.

Greatness.  He was MVP in '89 and '90.

Subsets/inserts included Rookie Force, FaniMation and NFL Scrapbook.  All are good and a nice pull in each.  That's animated Deion by the way. Maybe that should be more obvious.

Just a big fan of this design.  Upper Deck killed it with their early football designs.

Not sure why Joe Montanta got scanned twice but dang it, he deserves it.

1992 Lime Rock Pro Cheerleaders

1992 Cheerleaders:  The Raiderettes have been around for a long time, starting out in the 60s while becoming more popular in the 70s.  The logos are the actual squad logos.

This set highlighted 4 teams - Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders, Saints.  These are niche NFL cards but I like them as an interesting aside to the sport.  The Cowboys Cheerleaders are probably the most famous of all the squads and I do remember them well from when I was a kid.

The design is simple.  The squad's logo, photo and name.  They made sure you could see the name which meant it would move around depending on the photo.

The backs give us personal information for each of the girls and a personal photos.

Not something I collect, but I've come across these packs over the years.  They are cheap and the set is good for what it is.
