2022 Hro DC: Unlock the Multiverse: Chapter 2 Starter Box

2022 HRO DC Ch2: I liked the Black Adam movie and still think it was more a victim of what happened to the DC movie universe as a whole as opposed to the movie itself.
These cards by HRO also had a digital presence.  Looks like HRO has gone out of business.  I do like these cards.  They utilize good art, or in the case of Black Adam which had been recently released, publicity photos and/or art.  I'm fan of all three of these characters so another win here.
That first card is an Iconic Symbols card.  I like the simple look and how the art is the focus.
The back of each physical card contains a QR code that would connect to a digital copy, or "Twin," on the Hro marketplace app. The app and website enabled users to buy, sell, and trade the digital assets with other community members. Monthly digital-only pack drops and collection rewards were available through the Hro app and marketplace. (the site and apps are no longer available)
I couldn't find a great checklist for this set.  Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be uncommon with some of these sets.
Had these for little over a year but for some reason I'm just getting around to showing them off.  Just lots of cool stuff.
I like the variety in this box.  HRO DC cards are still available on Amazon and aren't expensive.  I'm sure other resellers have them as well.  Some cards go for high prices on eBay.  I can't find the cards numbers from eBay on the checklist, so I'm not sure how they fall into these sets.
Again, with the movie coming out during the timeframe this chapter was released, it was Black Adam heavy.  I like that.  I miss getting cards from the movies and this will be as close as we get for Black Adam.  I really like the bottom center JSA card.  Pierce Brosnan was such a great Dr. Fate.
Fun box of cards.  I'll get more of these.  Either in the form of sets from eBay or more boxes to open.  I think the grandsons will enjoy opening packs.

2021 Topps Hero Attax Marvel "The Infinity Saga" (India)

2021 Marvel Hero Attax:  We'll kick off this overseas offering with Loki.  He's been a favorite of mine in the Marvel universe.  I liked season one of his Disney+ series but season two didn't hit the mark for me.

This is another Topps set from overseas.  Very hard to find specifics but I do like picking up packs to see what the cards look like in hand.  This pack was part of an eBay purchase where I grabbed a wide variety of non-sport packs.  I like the looks of these cards, the various rating numbers notwithstanding,  you still get pretty good photo of the main character.
We have a Silver Foil Parallel, Red Foil Parallel, and a Gold Foil Parallel.  There may be more to each of these but it's so hard getting specifics for these overseas sets.  I have no idea why checklists with details are so hard to come by.  Maybe the first one is actually a Holofoil Parallel?
TCDB does have a checklist here but no info on parallels.
The backs are simple and show the movie from which the front photo come from which is good.  Another good Loki card.  His appearance where he fought the Avengers for the first time was pretty fun albeit short.
You really do get a good variety of characters from across the Marvel movie universe.
I won't pick up more of these but I do like them.  The cards look nice and the characters are fun.  Thanos is one of the great bad guys of all-time.  Said he was going to do a thing...and did it.  Zero hesitation like you'd want from your bad guy.

Justice League MetaX Booster Pack

Justice League MetaX:  I enjoy the art on the MetaX DC game cards so I grab these from time to time.  I purchased five of these off eBay and some will go to the grandsons.  We'll kick it off with some nice art from Alex Ross and the Kingdom Come books which are favorites of mine.
Again the draw to these is the art.  I may take the time to learn the game but they haven't necessarily been my thing.  Could be fun with the grandsons now that they are getting older.  This booster had cards from S19-JL through J36-JL.  Had no idea until I opened the box.  Seems pretty small.  I did pull cards 19-36 with plenty of duplicates.
Some of the lovely ladies of D.C.  I like all of these characters.  The link in my first paragraph does a great job showing the set visually but information on the set is maddening to come by.  Specifically, how is the set broke up and how it was released.  Didn't know these boosters only covered 36 cards.  Would have been good to know ahead of time.  But lack of information, not checklists, is really my only beef with these.
These are three of the 10 foils that came with my cards.  The foils don't necessarily excite me but I do like the look.  Overall this booster pack seemed to be Superman heavy.  Isn't a bad thing.  Just my perception.
There are four of what I call "character cards" like this Krypto, Green Arrow and the Supergirl I showed off earlier which are actually labeled with the character's name.  Fun box.  I'll probably just pick up the entire set at some point to include the different series.  I do like the art and the characters.

Green Lantern MetaX Game Cards

Green Lantern MetaX:  We'll keep the Green Lantern theme going this week.  Picked these two packs up last year when they were on the shelves.  I don't play the game but I'm a big Green Lantern fan and enjoy the art.  I've looked at cards from a few of the different MetaX games over the years.  We'll kick it off with Hal Jordan, the greatest GL of all-time.
A couple more Hal Jordan cards and a group shots of all the different lanterns as seen in the some of the great GL stories.
Carol Ferris, on and off love interest of Hal Jordan...and villain.  So many great characters in this universe including the Red Lanterns.  As you've probably guessed they are bad.  Really bad.
Blackest Night was another huge story arc for GL where dead heroes were reincarnated as villains.  Firestorm is my second favorite DC hero so his card had to make an appearance. Even if it is in his dead form.
There are "rare" cards that can be found in these packs but as the world as my witness I can't figure them out.  It's maddening.  I think I pulled one.  I'll never know.  Just saying.  I do like these cards.  I'm a nerd and love the art and of course the characters and that goes for all the different MetaX sets they've released (that I've seen).  The checklist can be found here and we'll end it with GL Sinestro who would go on to be the biggest enemy the GL Corps has ever seen.

Batman MetaX Game Cards

Batman MetaX:  Picked these up last year when they showed up in the wild and were basically the only things on the shelves.  I'm not into the game but as a nerd I do enjoy the characters and art.  This is very topical with The Batman doing so well in theaters right now.
Hard to find out a lot about the individual cards but it has a pretty good checklist.  I like many of the characters in the Batman universe.  Batgirl is one of my favorites.  Many of the ladies from his comics are favorites.
Seems like they are using art previously done by comic artists which is pretty cool.  It means some of the art is familiar like Bane breaking Batman's back which is a cover from the Knightfall story arc.

Not all of the art is a hit to me but I'm good with seeing art I'm not familiar with and possibly becoming a fan.  Not sure who that is on the middle card.
That Deathstroke is a "rare" card.  Again tracking down specifics on these are very tough so I'm not totally sure of that or what it means.  These are definitely fun.  The art and characters make them a win.  I don't think I'd pick up the entire set but I would be tempted to pick up another pack if I saw them on the shelves again.

Random Wax: 2018-2019 Hoops Basketball

Grabbed my second pack of the 2018-2019 Hoops basketball.  My first pack was a real dud as far as the pull went so the Hoops gods made up for it with this pack.  I really like this Jimmy Butler card but I have to figure out how to keep my scanner from cutting off those white borders.
Two Jimmy Butler cards in this pack which makes three of his Hoops' cards on the year in just two packs.  That definitely helps my personal collection. The other cards are a purple parallel and a Lights, Camera, Action insert.
I'm seeing stars.  Again this was a great pack with plenty of star power.
Donovan Mitchell is struggling this year after a great rookie season but hopefully he can get it going.  Great photo of Blake Griffin.  I've always liked him.  The only Trail Blazer card in this pack but a good one in Jusuf Nurkic who is averaging 15 and 10 for Portland.  No Hawks this pack but I can't complain considering my pull.

Card Show Baseball Card Finds

Grabbed some random baseball cards and packs at the card show and here they are.  I don't have near enough Greg Maddux cards and was able to help out my personal collection a bit with some of his cards.
Some more Maddux cards and the Ronald Acuna card I chased so much earlier in the year.

The 1983 Topps baseball are a favorite of mine and I grabbed a pack while at the show.  I thought I had a nice pull with three hall of famers.  It is always fun to open these as there are so many memories from when I was a younger collector and opening these packs all the time.

Grabbed a pack of the 2010 Topps Attax baseball card game and a 2010 Topps Opening Day Attax bonus pack.  I didn't realize they were the same product at the time.  These aren't bad looking cards really though the ratings take quite a bit of space but that's just a part of these kinds of cards.

Justice League MetaX Trading Card Game Cards

Saw these Justice League MetaX trading card packs at the local Dollar Tree and had to snag a pack to see what they are about.  I don't know anything about the card game itself but the cards aren't bad looking.  At least some of them, if not all, use art from the comics.  The first card with Superman, Nightwing, and Catwoman is done by Jim Lee and I really like his art.  While the fronts aren't art driven they are still nice pieces.  I could see folks adding cards from this game to their collection.
The cards themselves are playing card thin and a bit smaller than normal trading cards.  Not something I'd look to collect or buy more of but for a dollar I was more than willing to take a look at these cards.  Overall I think they are kinda cool and if I was younger I wouldn't doubt I might give the game a shot.
