2003 Inkworks Justice League

Inkworks JL:  Still waiting for the sequel to The Batman movie.  Doesn't mean we can't show him some love nonetheless.  Even animated, he looks menacing.
Justice League ran three seasons centering around Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (John Stewart), Flash, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl.  The design is pretty nice even though the side containing the name feels large.  I like it.
I like the art overall from these screen captures.  The first card here stands out to me.
Maybe a Hawkgirl hot pack.  These packs only had seven cards in each.  This is a Friends and Foes card that comes one per pack.
The backs provide us some nice background on each character as well as information specific to the show.
I do like these.  I've never seen the series but given time and the subscription I'd really like to watch it.  Fun pack of cards.
BREAKDOWN:
7 – Total Cards
1 – Friends and Foes

Justice League: The New Frontier Commemorative Edition

Justice League: The New Frontier: This was a Christmas present and a good one.  The New Frontier is set in the 50s. It focuses on the Justice League who have to deal with a threat to the world.  Before that we get some background on the characters and their relationships which isn't the cohesive team it is today.  We also see some origin stories along the way.  I enjoyed the movie.  There were some parts early in the movie I was surprised about but it was all about setting up the dynamic between the heroes.  Good movie.  For a more comprehensive look at what the Commemorative Edition comes as well as additional plot details here. DC does such a good job with their animated movies and I'll definitely pick up more.

2023 Christmas Goodies

Christmas is always fun and Santa Claus blessed me more than I deserve.  For maybe the first time ever, everything I received was on my list.  I was really excited to receive all these.  I've opened the random cards and watched the Justice Society: World War II animated movie while I've started reading volume 1 of Justice League.  Boba Fett's ship (Micro GalaxyZ) came from my grandsons and it'll be added to my modest Boba Fett collection once I receive the custom stand I ordered.  Shirts are always appreciated and Kawhi is my favorite NBA player.  Motley Crue is a favorite band of mine and the Dr. Feelgood album is my favorite of theirs.  Just lots of silly fun stuff .  It's more enjoyable watching everyone else open their gifts but also seeing the joy they get from giving.  Everyone have a fun New Year's Eve!

Zack Snyder's Justice League

Zack Snyder's Justice League: Finally got around to watching this one.  I really wanted to not like it.  I mean sure anyone can improve on a movie when: 1) they know what everyone disliked about the original, 2) can put out a four hour movie and 3) and seemingly have no restrictions put on you but the movie execs.  I wasn't as annoyed as others about the original but I understood the complaints.  Snyder did a good job and it was enjoyable to watch.

Zach Snyder did a good job providing more background on the characters, providing more depth to the plot, and letting the characters shine.  In the end the good guys still win.  Darkseid is still out there and a huge threat.  This really could set up the world, including Amazons, Atlanteans, men, etc. in an epic battle to save the world.  I guess we'll never see that.  The battle near the beginning of the movie with all the different factions saving the earth, including a Green Lantern, was more fun this go around. There's also a fun new character added to the film later on.

Cons would be all the wistful music and slow motion scenes especially early on.  I was ready to quit the movie 30 minutes in.  There are still some wonky graphics.  All the added goodness didn't really change anything.  And what is the payoff?  It doesn't seem to be lead to another Justice League film.  Maybe some of the solo films coming up will help lead to something but there is nothing but silence from D.C. Also seemed like the movie was over before it actually ended.

Bottom line is I liked this.  As a movie?  No.  As an excellent TV series yes.  It has that feeling to it and it took me three sittings to watch all of the movie.  Maybe it is also really good as two movies.  Worked for Marvel.  D.C. is moving forward with plenty of movies but we don't see Superman or Wonder Woman anytime soon (that I can tell).  Seems plenty disjointed.  It's no secret D.C. has screwed up their movie strategy but you have to think they can learn from this and turn it around.

Justice League MetaX Trading Card Game Cards

Saw these Justice League MetaX trading card packs at the local Dollar Tree and had to snag a pack to see what they are about.  I don't know anything about the card game itself but the cards aren't bad looking.  At least some of them, if not all, use art from the comics.  The first card with Superman, Nightwing, and Catwoman is done by Jim Lee and I really like his art.  While the fronts aren't art driven they are still nice pieces.  I could see folks adding cards from this game to their collection.
The cards themselves are playing card thin and a bit smaller than normal trading cards.  Not something I'd look to collect or buy more of but for a dollar I was more than willing to take a look at these cards.  Overall I think they are kinda cool and if I was younger I wouldn't doubt I might give the game a shot.

Justice League Movie Review (No Spoilers)

I really enjoyed the heck out of this movie.  With DC's past films being underwhelming (sans WW) and some mixed reviews for Justice League I was a bit worried.  While I could see some of the negatives, to me they weren't at all so much that it detracted from the film.  The story, characters and acting was a plus for me.  The movie was fun, had plenty of action, and wasn't a mess.  I just enjoyed watching Justice League.  It flowed well and the movie didn't seem long at all.  My favorite part of the story was how they handled Superman but I won't go into detail. Justice League isn't perfect but it was a good watch.  I say go see it and I look forward to hearing what everyone else thinks.
