The Legend of Boggy Creek is one that I'll always remember from my childhood. It was released in 1972 but I'm sure I watched in the mid '70s on KTLA. And man, it scared me. I was under 10 so that makes sense. This watch was personal wanting to revisit a movie that made a big impression on me. As an adult, is it that scary? No. But it was a fun walk back through time.
The movie itself centers around a bigfoot esque creature that terrorizes locals in Arkansas. The movie shows both encounters with the "Fouke monster" as well as "eyewitness" interviews similar to a docudrama. I did like some of the low-budget cinematography and how they built the story up. I'm not saying I recommend this one, but I did want to put it out there for my nostalgia if nothing else.
I've never seen the original, but I've watched Boggy Creek II many times thanks to Mystery Science Theater 3000 (link).
ReplyDeleteI'll have to put that one on my watch list.
DeleteNow this is my kind of movie. I'd love to check this movie out, but it's not currently on any of my streaming platforms.
ReplyDeleteIt can be tough to find films like this. I get it.
