Random Wax: 2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball

 2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball:  Don't get excited.  This post has been gathering dust for some time. This green parallel was the highlight of a very strong pack. Luka Doncic is so exciting to watch.  He has amazing court vision and can play ball with the best of them.  He's definitely a top five player in the league right now and maybe top three.

This green parallel works really well for Tacko Fall and the Celtics green.   I really enjoy having Sir Charles on cards again.  I liked him as a player but I really enjoy him as an analyst. 

Nikola Jokic continues to get better and this year is he is #3 in the league in assists with just over nine a game.  Amazing.  Blake Griffin really fell off this year.  No idea what happened to him but I was counting on him as a late round find for my fantasy team.  That didn't end well...

I'm a huge Domantas Sabonis fan.  Loved his dad, Arvydas as well, who played for the Trail Blazers .  He's another of those big guys who has good hands and I expect he'll make the all-star team again this year.  He's also hitting the three really consistently now.  Anthony Davis finishes this pack on a high note.  Fun pull and pack.

Random Wax: 2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball

 2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball: Don't get too excited this pack has been hanging around for a while.  Decent pull here starting with Zion here who everyone went crazy for in last year's basketball collecting season.  He and the Pelicans have had a good start to the season so far so collectors will be even more excited.  I can't wait for new basketball cards to hit the shelf.  Been so long.

Glad to pull a McCollum and Jokic is always a good pull.  He showed off how good he was in the bubble last year after Denver made it to the Western Conference Finals.

Devonte' Graham is looking over his shoulder with LaMelo ball on the team now. Graham's having a tough shooting year but the season is still young.  He is a solid young player for the Hornets.  Jrue Holiday is now a Buck still finding his way on a really good Milwaukee team.  

Chris Paul is a part of the the Suns.  Big things are expected from Phoenix this year.  Fun pack that is capped off by this Steph Curry parallel.  I have more packs of these in reserve so you'll see those in the future.

2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball Hanger Box

2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball:  This showed up again in my little neck of the woods so I picked up a hanger and some packs to break.  Today is the hanger.  No Zion but Ja Morant is a great consolation prize.  These hangers have 4 Reactive Orange Prizms and a total of 20 cards.  As I said in my first post these aren't necessarily a favorite of mine but it's almost impossible to pass up any basketball you find on the shelves nowadays.

Also pulled this RJ Barrett NBA Debut insert.  New York has high hopes for the 3rd overall pick of the draft.  I like the Got Game? inserts because we see the background on the photo.  And this is a nice photo of Blake Griffin getting ready to slam it home.

I love the USA basketball inserts.  I pulled a Step Curry my first time and this time up is Sir Charles who won a couple of Olympic gold medals as part of Team USA including the '92 Dream Team.

The base cards didn't include the biggest stars of the NBA but I still grabbed a couple of key players.

De'Aaron Fox is a key to the Kings future as a twenty-two year-old up and coming star.  Pretty good box.  I'll show off the other packs I picked up at a later time but wanted to show off some cards fresh off the shelf.

2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball

2019-2020 Mosaic Basketball:  My weekly trip to Wal-Mart was very fruitful yesterday.  I've never heard of Mosaic but low and behold there were hanger boxes of these sitting there.  And guess who I pulled?  Yep.  Still doing pretty good percentage wise on pulling him.  I might have to sell my Zion stash sometime soon.  This card sold on eBay for $25 or more in the first few days this release could be found.

These are green and reactive orange parallels.  I'm not sure what the orange is reacting to but maybe it is these two stars.  There are a ridiculous number of parallels in this set.  Heck I'll just list them out - Base Mosaic, Silver, Camo Pink, Genesis, Green, Reactive Blue, Reactive Orange, Red, Blue #/99, Purple #/49, Orange Fluorescent #/25, White #/25, Blue Fluorescent #/15, Pink Swirl #/11, Gold #/10, Green Swirl #/10, Pink Fluorescent #/10, Black 1/1.

These are shiny cards - think optic, chrome.  I'm not a fan of the design and shiny cards as a whole aren't my thing.  I actually thought, for no good reason, this would be more along the lines of the Elite basketball cards.  Price point was almost $18 for this hanger box and those things are going for crazy prices as well.  

Some decent inserts.  Retired greats always make me smile.  How many championships did DJ when?  Yep 3 - but only 2 were with the Celtics.  He was still with Phoenix when Boston won their first championship of the Larry Bird era.  DJ's other came with the SuperSonics in 78-79.  Most folks forget that one.  Everyone wants to be excited about 7 foot 5 inch Tacko Fall from Senegal.  He's not wowing us yet but when he does Taco Bell endorsements are sure to follow.

Mosaic does let us see players in their new team unis like these two guys.  Rose was having a good year with the Pistons and and Anthony was doing OK in Portland.  The backs on these are pretty nice as well.  Zion makes this a fun pack and would I pick up more?  Probably just for the chase and it's all about finding one of the thousand parallels of those Zion cards.
