Random Wax: 1990-1991 Hoops Basketball (6 Packs)

90-91 HoopsJohn Stockton's accolades is a crazy long list.  And all well deserved.  Great All-Star Game card.  You know I love these.
These are so much fun.  Great players and great memories.  I'd love to have seen Chris Mullin play today.  The man could shoot!  Nice looking Pippen photo.
Speaking of shooters...a nice rookie pull here.
Love the coach cards.  Seikaly was never a defensive anchor but was solid for the Heat for a time.
All-Star cards!  Including a Larry Bird cameo and Dennis Rodman on offense.  While James Worthy looks confused.
These cards have great backs whether it is the base card or an all-star card.
Alex English and Dale Ellis are favorites of mine.  Kiki was a scorer and could shoot which would play today.  His lack of defense wouldn't be a good thing but he would still have his place.
So much fun looking at these cards. We'll end it with a PC guy as well as NBA and Parks and Recreation alum Detlef Schrempf.

Random Wax: 1990-1991 Hoops Basketball (6 Packs)

90-91 Hoops:  The NBA draft is tonight.  Dreams for fans will start as their teams try to find "the guy" who will take their team to next level.  Magic was that guy for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The pulls in these packs are always a win.  Here we have my all-time favorite player with Nique, to go with Larry Legend and The Mailman.  That Nique photo is a classic.
We love actual all-star game photos.  We need more of these.
Dennis Rodman went on to a Hall of Fame career but Danny Ferry probably had the better style as a rookie.  Though Dennis would go on to redefine "style" with some of his outfits during his career.
Love the coaching cards as well.
The backs are great giving us all the stats we want including college and all-star game stats.  Bravo Hoops bravo.
Ralph Sampson and Trent Tucker are favorites of mine while I also like Jeff Hornacek.  I would love to see Hornacek and Tucker shoot in today's game.  Sampson's career wasn't what it could have been due to injuries but he had a short fun run with the Rockets and Hakeem as part of the Twin Towers.
So many great memories of all these guys.  I watched all the NBA I could back in the day.  Still love the league but the 80s and early 90s will always be special to me.

Random Wax: 1990-1991 Hoops Basketball (6 Packs)

90-91 Hoops:  We'll kick off this one with Reggie Miller, one of the greatest shooters of all-time.  He was fun to watch and always good for a soundbite.  Also a good analyst today.
Hard to go wrong with this set.  So many NBA greats.  Solid design.  And lots of fun.  Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond was a member of the Warriors' Run TMC and the man could he shoot.
Love the All-Star cards!  Another Reggie appearance and two of the best bigs of all-time.
Mookie in one of those great Nets jerseys.  Another great shooter in Drazen Petrovic who passed away way too young.  And the "T" of Run TMC and Hall of Fame member.
Dan Majerle would be that 3 and D guy in today's game.  Doug Moe's NBA career was delayed by being suspended due to alleged gambling contacts.  Who knew?  I enjoyed watching Jeff Malone.  I'd just call him smooth.  He didn't shoot 3s but he could shoot and he could score.
These three are great players and great scorers.  Fun stats to look at.
Favorites of mine in Buck, Larry Smith, and Reggie Theus.  No rhyme or reason but these guys have been all-time favorites from the get-go.  I really like Larry Legend but most of that comes from after he retired.  He killed my Hawks and honestly it was hard to really get to know Larry Bird in the 80s.  NBA coverage had finally gone national but getting to really know guys or hear the cool stories that we didn't hear for years wasn't the norm yet.

Random Wax: 1990-1991 Hoops Basketball (6 Packs)

90-91 HoopsSir Charles is always fun and was so good.  It's always a treat to go back and look at the havoc he wreaked on the league.  Now we get to enjoy him on TV which is almost as good.  This set is just too much fun.  I love looking back at these.  I watched so much hoops back then and there's noone in this set that doesn't bring back some memory.
Three studs from the era.  John Stockton's game is still something to be amazed by.  Nique is my all-time favorite NBA player.  It was so much fun being able to watch his entire career.
The all-star cards are one of the highlights of this set aside from the amazing players.  These three need no introduction.
Three fun guards from the era.  Fat Lever and his game would be fun to watch today.  Such an amazing point guard.  Hawkins shot 39% from deep for his career and he would have been in high demand today.
And the greats keep on coming.  Another generational shooter, guy who could go get any rebound and The Admiral who was elite on many levels.
The backs are almost as fun as the fronts.  College and careers stats?  Win!
We need more coach cards today.  When some of the current coaches retire we won't have any new cardboard for them.
Tom Chambers and Eddie Johnson's games would easily play today.  I think Dantley's would too in a DeMar DeRozan way.  And Jack Sikma would be perfect.  He had good hands, could shoot from mid-range and the three point line (35% over his last three seasons/2.3 attempts per game), and could rebound and play defense.

Random Wax: 1990-1991 Hoops Basketball (6 Packs)

90-91 Hoops:  Another six packs of this classic set.  And this time we have the GOAT kicking it off.  Not starting an argument but Michael Jordan is the greatest of all-time in my opinion.  I got to watch him so much and dude was an assassin on the court.  I think he and Larry Bird had some of the same mentality/makeup that allowed him to be amazing on the court and take their game to another level when need be.  This is a great shot on the card.
Opening six packs at a time you'll never get cheated.  These three Hall of Famers are greatness personified in their own ways.  So many amazing players in this set and the good design make for a winner in my book.
Love these All-Star cards.  In game photos take it to another level. Love the All-Star weekend logo as well.
All three of these guys had solid careers.  Elliott and Robinson went on to be all-stars while Robinson also received two all-defensive nods and was named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year one season.  He unfortunately passed away in 2020.
Great coaches in this set.  Jone's tenure in Seattle was short at 118 games.
The backs were just as fun as the front.  College stats, NBA stats, and a really good write-up.  Thank you Hoops.
Some of my favorite players.  I'll say it again Dale Ellis would have been really good today.  He was not only a great shooter but was also a scorer at heart.  I think he would have filled up the stats sheet.  Might not play any defense but still.  Detlef Schrempf's range would also play really well today but he isn't the scorer that Ellis was.
Three outstanding guards from back in the day.  And The Admiral showing off that signature style of his jumper.  Love these great players and cards.

Random Wax: 1990-1991 Hoops Basketball (6 Packs)

1990-1991 Hoops:  Tons of basketball moves going on the last few weeks as free agency kicked off.  Karl Malone moved once as a free agent at the end of his career.  He played one year with the Lakers chasing a ring he was never able to get.  Still dude was nothing short of a stud in the NBA.
With six packs you'll have plenty of star power and these packs are no difference.  Zeke and McHale headline these three but don't sleep on how good Walter Davis was with Phoenix.  The man could shoot and score.
Mookie Blaylock rocking what I think is the greatest Nets jersey of all-time.
All-Star cards are great especially when done this well.  Actual game photos are awesomeness.Good on you Hoops.  Good on you.
A young Phil Jackson.  The Bulls would win the first of their Championships in 1991 starting a long run of dominance.
Good on Hoops for all the stats they'd give you including college stats.  And all-start game stats?  Win.  Buck is my #2 all-time favorite player while Larry Joe Bird and "Four Four Four" are also favorites of mine.
Sikma's mid-range jumper and passing skills would have played well today.  Great packs and even more fun. Love opening this old basketball wax.
