Random Wax: 2024 Score Football

2024 Score:  For all the Cowboys' issues, their offense isn't one of them.  CeeDee Lamb has dealt with some injuries this year but is still a favorite of Dak Prescott.
Three more stars of the league including Keenan Allen one of my three Red Parallels.  Allen is happy to be back with the Chargers and having Justin Herbert throwing to him.  Allen has been so good and so steady for so long.
Dak's had a little bit to celebrate about this year.  The Cowboys are struggling but Dak Prescott is doing his job with the offense and racking up points.
That Troy Fautanu is a Dots Gold Parallel #/240.  He's the starting tackle for the Steelers.
Nick Bosa is hurt this season, and it seems most of San Fran is banged up, but he looks good on this Sack Attack insert.
J.J. McCarthy is back and has looked good in spurts for the Vikings who are still in the playoff hunt.  Nice looking Xavier Worthy on that Protential.
I like League Leaders cards.  These are a bit different.  I think I'd prefer something close to baseball league leaders where we get multiple players on the front.
Cowboy hot pack!  I like this photo.
Retired greats are always fun, and the Hall of Fame cards are great.

Random Wax: 2024 Score Football

2024 Score:  Not much else you can say about John Elway who is an all-time favorite of mine and my all-time favorite QB.  In a great twist of irony, he's one of two of my all-time favorite players to beat my Falcons in the Super Bowl.  Tom Brady being the other.  SMH
Really good-looking design on the 2024 set.  Pretty good pull in this pack as well including Super Bowl winning QB Jalen Hurts.
I really like what we've seen from Bo Nix.  I can see him developing into one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
Celebration inserts are one I enjoy.
Another Bo Nix appearance as well as Drake Maye who is also showing improvement at quarterback for New England.  Rome Odunze has had a solid start to his career with the Bears.
Joey Bosa has 1 sack through three games for his new team, Buffalo.  The future Hall of Famer has been one of the best at getting to the quarterback as showcased on these Sack Attack inserts.
I always like League Leader cards.  Wouldn't mind a design where maybe we see the #2 and #3 guys on there as well, but these work for me.
The Vikings offense is still figuring it out and will be without JJ McCarthy for a few weeks while he's injured.
I love retired greats on cardboard including these nice Hall of Fame inserts.  That Willis is a Red Parallel.  And we get the nice looking back.  Not enough stats but still looking good.

30 – Total Cards
9 – RC
5 – Retired Greats
2 – Protential
2 – Celebration
2 – 35th Anniversary Rookie

Random Wax: 2024 Score Football

2024 Score:  As tumultuous as his career was off the field sometimes, Randy Moss was crazy great on the field including eight seasons of 1200+ receiving yards.
I like this set and the helmet on the fronts is a huge reason why.  Great look.
I get that something good probably just happened, but the photo doesn't scream "Celebration" to me.
Rookies get their time to shine.  I hope Drake Maye continues to progress in New England.  I'd like to see him develop into a top quarterback.  Good start so far.
Hall of Fame cards are always great and appreciated, especially with the Hall of Fame logo on the front.  Random speed League Leaders card.  I'd rather see more classic league leader cards like we see in baseball or something with the classic stats we're used to.
Looks like someone is about to get pile driven into the ground...
Backs from the rookies, retired greats and current players.  I like these backs.  Lots of color. Always want more stats but these are good.
More rookies including another good rookie QB in Bo Nix on that 35th Anniversary Rookie.
This one says celebration to me.
Love retired greats in these sets.  Danny White was 62-30 as a starting quarterback winning 10 or more games four times in his career.  Fun pack of cards.

Random Wax: 2024 Score Football Blaster

2024 Score: Barry Sanders needs no introduction.  10X Pro Bowl and 6X All-Pro selection.  His stats are so fun to look through.  Just amazing.
I like the design on these, so they are always fun.  Nice pull in this box.
Great photo on this Celebration insert.
Rookies get their time to shine in multiple formats.  And we get to see the great Michigan Wolverine unis.
Some good QB rookie pulls even if I didn't get a Jayden Daniels.
League Leaders inserts including the back of one.  Some of these stats are a bit random but can be fun.  I think some of the old school cards with multiple players in the traditional categories would be more fun, but these have their place as well.

I like the photos on the Sack Attack inserts.
The backs are really colorful and pretty good sans complete stats.
I love retired greats and these all scratch the itch.  Andre Tippet was a 2X All-Pro, 5X All-Pro, and named to the All-1980s Team.
Fun.
Some retired great offensive linemen.  Joe Thomas was a beast.
That Patrick Mahomes is a Stars Parallel #/399.  Great pull and I like the look of those.
Fun box.  Great pull, variety, many PC guys and lots of retired greats.  I'll definitely do more Score.

2024 Score Football Blaster

2024 Score: My first look at this year's Score offering.  I'll kick it off with Doug Williams, an all-time favorite of mine.  he shows off that classic throwing motion of his.  He won a Super Bowl and was the Super Bowl MVP for Washington when they beat Denver in Super Bowl XXII.  He only started two games that season, and lost both, but started and won three games in the playoffs including a dominant Super Bowl win.
This year's design is a take on 1990 Score football.  The minor tweaks including the team helmet and white borders make a big difference.  Those borders could be a bit smaller to me but overall, I like the cards.
Plenty of rookie representation in the set.  Jayden Daniels had a breakout game against Cincy Monday night.  It was fun to watch and some of his throws were crazy good.  Worthy has done well early in KC and Michigan alum J.J. McCarthy is out this season with an injury.
I like the Protential inserts, and that throwback look to them.
Sack Attack inserts are back, as is Khalil Mack who had 17 sacks last season.  I like these and how they highlight defensive greats.
Love the retired greats in this set. Some great quarterback representation here.  I like the base card checklist which is in order by city name, and the retired greats for each team are the last cards within the team's players.  So easy to find.  These just hit our local shelves this week and I couldn't resist one of the staples of the football card world.
These League Leader inserts have a fun feel to them.  I like the "bright" design.  At first I thought they had randomly put the Texans' logo behind Mike Evans.  Obviously, the photo was taken during a game in Houston.
First Ballot is another insert I look forward to.  We get to see more retired greats and I like that Hall of Fame logo worked into the design.
What greater celebration is there than winning the Super Bowl?
Very similar to the original 1990 card backs and these look really good.  Here we have a veteran, rookie and retired great.
A couple of the parallels.  Green and an Electric Parallel #/99.
Yeah, I enjoy the retired greats.  You get 132 cards in blasters which is great.  There are 400 base cards in the set and the variety with inserts feels pretty good.  Though I wouldn't complain about a few more inserts.
Seen this one a few times.  Josh Allen and the Bills have had a good start to the season.  They aren't as pass dominant and shown they can really run the ball at times.  Allen has seven touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 75% of his passes through three games.
Fun start to 2024 Score.  I'm happy with my pull and these cards feel fun to me.  There'll definitely be more as time goes on.
