Random Wax: 2019 Playoff Football Blaster

2019 Playoff Football: This is a brand I like and opened quite of bit of it since it came out.  This pack was probably bought in 2019 or early 2020 when there were still some cards lingering from the previous year on shelves.  The good ole days...  We'll kick this off with a Hall of Famer from years past.  Nice photo on that card.
We'll kick it off with some inserts.  Derrick Henry is such a beast.  I love watching him play.  Myles Garrett is an anchor on the Cleveland Brown defense.
Who didn't like the Patriots Stanley Morgan back in the day?  His son has struggled but I still enjoy seeing that name.  Not sure where Richard Sherman will land this year and Aaron Donald is still a stud.
I love the retired legends included in this set.  It's a pretty good list and I love pulling these guys.  When I scanned that Deshaun Watson I had no idea the turmoil that would surround him today.  Fun box of cards and a good set.

Random Wax: 2019 Playoff Football

2019 Playoff Football: I'm a big fan of this set.  The design really works for me.  Cam Newton now plays with the New England Patriots and has been one of the key players to come down with Covid-19. Plenty of games have been affected now and it seems we are getting to a scary point where the NFL will run out of flexibility.  Fingers crossed it all works out.
Pretty good group of receivers.  I think I lost a scan or two that was supposed to go with this post.  I would usually have at least one more showing the inserts and/or rookies.
I've probably had better packs but this was still fun.  The packs contain 40 cards and I love the retired veterans that you'll find here.  Definitely not my last pack.  I've had this one and at least one other pack waiting for some time.  DeAndre Hopkins is having another great season after being traded to Arizona.  That may go down as one of the worst trades in history.

Random Wax: 2019 Playoff Football

2019 Playoff Football: This was a great pack with plenty of star power and retired greats.  This was too much fun.  This guy had an amazing MVP season.  I know he flashed some skills in 2018 but I didn't see this coming.  I was a bit  pessimistic when it came to Jackson.  Boy was I wrong.
Pretty nice quarterback trio including a starter in the Super Bowl.
Speaking of the Super Bowl there is the man himself who led the Kansas City Chiefs to their first ever Super Bowl win.  Gotta love his arm and he seems like a pretty laid back cool guy as well.
Another Super Bowl Champion and stud running back in Saquon Barkley. I'm sure Giants' fans can't wait to see what a full season with Daniel Jones at QB looks like.  And of course hope Jones can improve on last year.

So many retired greats help make this a great pack.  Even fun seeing recent retirees like Peyton Manning on new cardboard.  This really was a fun pack and I know I'll pick up more of these.  I'm chasing all the retired greats from this set and I'm getting close.  That Jim Kelly below is definitely one of my favorites.  Enjoy.

Random Wax: 2019 Playoff Football

2019 Playoff Football:  This year's Playoff set is slowly catching up to Score as my favorite 2019 Football set.  The sleek design and deep retired greats roster do it for me.  I'm rooting for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs today.  With no dog in the fight I do like Mahomes, a Texas Tech alum, and have to root for the Chiefs who haven't won a Super Bowl in 50 years.  And then there is Andy Reid who deserves a championship on his resume.  I'm expecting the game to be close but hoping KC pulls it off.
Again the design is simple but one I like.  I do think the logo could be more prominent but I won't complain.
Today will be tricky as my wife really, really dislikes the Chiefs and the city of KC.  Not exactly sure where those feelings are rooted but it makes for a tricky watch as I try not to be in over the top mode rooting for Kansas City.
It'll be interesting to see if Cleveland can get that team turned around.  I'm not completely sold on Baker Mayfield but the fans of the Browns have suffered for so long.  Good news for them is Big Ben can't play forever.  Bad news is they have many years of LaMar Jackson to look forward to.
Here are some of those great retired greats we get to see in these packs.  That 49er uni is my favorite in the team's history.  This was a fun pack and great way to start off Super Bowl Sunday.  No matter who wins I just hope for a good game.

Eric is a top 10 guy for me and love that Ram's uni.  The photo is pretty nice too as we get to see his classic upright running style and you can see his trademark goggles.

Random Wax: 2019 Playoff Football Hanger Box

2019 Playoff Football:  This is a brand I like this year and this Drew Brees in a Chargers uni is already a candidate for favorite football card of the year.  I like the uni, though yellow pants would make it even better, and you never get to see Brees on new cardboard as a Charger.  I'm probably more excited about this than most will be but it really made this a fun pack.
Speaking of Brees I also pulled his base Saints card which made the pack that much better.  Plenty of star power aside from Brees as well.

Rookies were well represented and though the inserts are pretty nice there really weren't that many to be found.
Just a solid design this year.  Definitely one I can get behind and I'll definitely pick up more later.

Have I ever said how much I love retired greats?  Almost a third of the box was retired greats which was a huge plus to me.  That Favre is the second Playoff of his I've pulled this year.  The first showed him as a Viking.  I'm glad to see Joe Thomas get some love to.  Fun hanger box and set.

2019 Playoff Football

2019 Playoff Football:  I like this year's offering of Playoff football.  I had to start out with this great Deion Sanders card.  It was a tough decision between this and the Roger Staubach.  The retired greats in this set really scratch an itch for me.  The design is a good one.  Not distracting from the photo.  This Deion is actually a green parallel though it is pretty much impossible to see.  I'm OK with that as the green detracts from the black and red that should stand out on a Falcons' card.
Plenty of current stars will be found in your packs of course with this trio of quarterbacks highlighting my signal callers.
I'm not sure about either of these inserts yet.  Maybe they'll grown on me.
The backs are nice and colorful.  They could use a few more lines of stats but I'll be happy with the colorful design and duplicate rear photo.  Good to see players in their new unis like Jadeveon Clowney.
Did I tell you I like seeing retired greats on new cardboard?  I think all three of these are great photos but that Staubach really stands out to me.  This was a fun pack.  I'll definitely pick up more.  I'm hoping I'll see a bit more from the inserts though.
