2015-2016 Hoops Basketball Retail Box

Love this card.
Grabbed this retail box of 2015-2016 NBA Hoops some time ago and I'm just now getting around to showing it off.  As it is a retail box there are no guaranteed hits but I didn't care.  The price was right for the 240 cards.  These cards have grown on me some since they first came out.  They definitely could have left more room for the photos by making the Hoops logo smaller but I'm still happy.  Retail boxes really are the way to go if you don't have to have autographs.  Don't get me wrong.  I like them of course and do grab hobby boxes but it is like betting right?  You are betting on  nice auto?  Sometimes I like to take out the disappointment of not getting that great auto and just getting cards in bulk and get more cards for less money.  So here is a fraction of my pulls I thought I'd show off.
I love that this set still had Tim Duncan in it.
I did get three numbered cards in the form of blue parallels (#/399).  Nothing to crazy but i'll take it.  I liked the Double Trouble Cavs card I pulled.
Of the seven Swat Team cards I pulled two were of retired legends to include Kareem Abul-Jabbar whom I really enjoy pulling.
I'm a big John Wall fan so the End 2 End was a great card to pull.  Gordon Hayward before all the free agent hoopla.
BREAKDOWN:
240 Cards (24 Packs X 10)
17 – RC
7 – Swat Team (2 Legends)
6 – Lights Camera Action
4 – Faces of the Future
4 – End 2 End
3 - Blue Parallells (#/399)
2 –Double Trouble

Atlanta Hawks Team Set - 2015-16 Panini Basketball

The final set I'll look at is the current Atlanta Hawks 2015-16 Hoops team set.  Eleven cards in this set which is nice compared to the others and I love that there are two cards with Hawks players in their throwback uniforms (Schroder and Milsap).
The design is pretty nice but I'd like to have seen some smaller borders.  There are no player positions as is normal for Hoops.  I think having the corner colored around the team logo as is seen on the rookie card would have been nice to see on all cards.  Otherwise the photos are as good as always.  The backs are black and white and a tad different as the team logo is gone.  I'm not sure if Hoops is trying to take everything interesting out of the designs of the back or what.  If they had enlarged the font or done it for some other purpose I'd understand but as is it is just a big negative for me.  Overall these are ok for me but nothing to write home about.

2015-2-16 Panini Hoops Trading Cards

I'm not a fan of this year's Hoops cards from Panini.  It just seems like they phoned it in.  They aren't bad cards but they also don't say "wow" when you open a pack.  The fronts are fine with good photography.  I like the team logos and I pulled plenty of rookie cards.  Not a ton of stars though.  And I'm getting tired of the foil on the cards.  I don't think it is needed nor is the huge Hoops logo.  I'm good with the products logo being on the front but it doesn't have to be so big.  Again I'm not sure how much thought was put into this year's set. I've only picked up a few packs and not sure if I'll grab anymore.  Hard not to though since this is the cheaper of the basketball cards that will be out there.  We'll see.  Maybe I'll feel better with a fresh look.  The backs are the black and white backs you are used to seeing with Hoops which again isn't that exciting.  Maybe a color team logo, border around something or in the stats?  Ugh.  Maybe I'm being a bit negative.  I'll have to look at what others feel about this set to see if I'm missing something but for now I'm giving it a "shoulder shrug".
