Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)

Godzilla x Kong: Got to see this one with the grandsons a few weeks back.  I really enjoyed it.  I thought the fights scenes were done really well and were very entertaining.  They've gone all in on the Godzilla and Kong universe.  I'm not saying this is a great movie but it is entertaining.  I think it'd be easy to nick pick the details but it's easy to watch.  There are some key players missing from Team Godzilla to include Millie Bobby Brown.  My favorite movies in the series are their solo movies as well as the Godzilla vs Kong that focused on those two.  That said it's obvious they'd have to advance the story and they did just that.  We'll see where it goes from here.  And for the record the nine-year old grandson really enjoyed it while the six-year old wasn't as dialed in but I think that was more of a him thing.

Godzilla vs Kong (2021) Movie Review (NO SPOILERS)

Godzilla vs Kong: We watched this one over the weekend and loved it.  I'll keep this short and sweet.  We really like this movie.  It was extremely entertaining.  Plenty of fights with the two stars which is all you can ask.  They seemed to have learned after Godzilla (2014) when his screen time was minimal.  I won't ruin anything but there are nods to the Godzilla/King Kong universe of years past.  I highly suggest this one.  It's fun and has plenty of action.

1976 Topps King Kong

1976 King Kong:  I'm not hitting the store much nowadays so I went back to Bob Rewak's eBay store for some non-sport packs.  King Kong packs were a little more pricey than the cheap packs I normally go for but the movie is so iconic and I love it.  I was eight when it came out and I was instantly a fan.  This close up is a great photo of Kong's face.
I like the designs on these overall.  There isn't a ton going on but it works.  Odd putting the copyright on the front of the card.  I'm OK with having the card number on the front.  Different and doesn't take away from the card.
The backs for most parts are part of a larger puzzle.  A few do have a brief description.  On the right is a sticker.  On the cards I pulled I liked the screen grabs.  In some sets they can be hit or miss but I'm happy with these.
The pack did come with a piece of gum.  It was on the back of one the cards and the stain wasn't too bad for being so old.  I'm really glad I picked up this pack.  Fun cards and an all-time favorite movie of mine.
BREAKDOWN:
6 – Total Cards
1 – Sticker
1 – Piece of Gum

Kong: Skull Island Review (NO Spoilers)

Saw Kong: Skull Island Thursday night and really enjoyed it.  It may not be perfect but it is entertaining.  My recollection from watching Godzilla from 2014 is a bit different from the review I actually did.  That movie suffered from a long build up prior to seeing some real action involving the real star of the movie, Godzilla.  King Kong didn't make the same mistake.  He makes an early appearance here and has quite a bit of screen time.  The basic plot isn't that far off past iterations but enough to give you something different to look forward to.  I won't go in to great detail but think this was a very entertaining movie.  I like the early 70's setting, the actors (especially John C. Reilly's character), and the action.  There is a bit of a lull midway thorough the movie but nothing that isn't overcome later.  Much better than Godzilla, another monster property I am big fan of.  Everyone should go see this movie if you are at all interested and I'd be curious to hear what you think.
