Random Wax: 2018 Score Football

2018 Score Football:  Score has tons of variety year in and year out with plenty of inserts and our first look at rookies.  I really like these Captains cards.  Just a cool looking card with plenty of color.  The Bucs played Washington this weekend in the first round of the playoffs.
A-A-Ron gets to rest this weekend as a #1 seed.  One of the big stories of the off season will be what happens with Dak Prescott.  He and Dallas were already having issues coming to an agreement on a long term deal before he was injured and out for the year.  It puts Dallas in a precarious spot. I doubt Dak is willing to take a discount even with the injury.
The design on this particular set doesn't wow me.  Nice pulling that Matt Ryan card in his throwback uni though.
Color Rush is a favorite of mine every year.  Well except when they show a team in all white.  The Sidelines insert is somewhat boring to me.  I'd actually be ok if they did a base card design using this as a basis for it to some extent.  Maybe the sideline marks as part of a card.
Playoffs?  Yep those Cleveland Browns will square off against the Ravens this weekend in the franchise's first playoff appearance in like forever.  Good for them and their fans.
Good with both these inserts and two more playoff teams who'll be showcased this weekend.  That Huddle Up design is one of my favorites of that particular insert from year to year.
Just a few more base cards with more teams who get to play extra football this year.
Score loves the rookies of course.  Cool 2018 Draft insert.  Love seeing those Bulldog unis and all the former Georgia running backs in the league.  Score is always fun.  My base cards weren't exactly the best but I'm not complaining about this pack.

Random Wax: 2018 Score Football

2018 Score Football: I think I've had this for over a year now and I found it at a reduced price.  Can't beat that for a Mahomes rookie.  I really like Patrick Mahomes and was happy for him and the Chiefs last year.  Unfortunately he's made these packs pricey, even it this isn't his rookie, and won't be found in value bins anymore.
Star power?  Plenty to be had here in the base cards.
More and more stars...
When you open a Score pack you know you are getting plenty of inserts.  The Color Rush and Captains are favorites of mine.

Rookies are a big part of these as well.  As one of the first sets of the year you get to see these guys in their college unis.  Only bad thing is trying to sort them by team.  I have to look so many of them up.  It's worth it to see them in their college gear.
Did I say there were lots of inserts?  You won't get bored with Score.  If there is something you don't like there is plenty of variety to enjoy.  Fun pack for sure.  I'd enjoy ripping some of this again if I ever got the chance.

Random Wax: 2018 Score Football

I know, more 2018 Score football?  I'm just enjoying these cards and I like the variety as well as the values.  This pack had plenty of inserts and lots of Gronk.  Speaking of, I really like this Rob Gronkowski card.
Outside of the three Gronk cards I again didn't grab any of the big name quarterbacks, something that has been pretty consistent with my Score pulls this year.  I love Gronk so I'm not complaining.
These Captains cards are my favorite inserts from this set.  Enjoyed seeing a Georgia Bulldog sporting his college uni.  While Carlos Hyde has gotten the bulk of the carries for Cleveland so far, I expect Nick Chubb to start gaining more carries as the season progresses.  Saquon Barkley, on a red parallel card, is expected to be a premier runner someday though I hope the bad offensive line/offense the Giants have doesn't keep him from reaching his potential someday.
Plenty of  inserts in this pack which keeps you from getting bored.  I'm good with the idea of the Sidelines card but man it seems you can get a more interesting pic than guys just standing there.

Random Wax: 2018 Score Football

Grabbed a retail pack of the 2018 Score football.  Not quite the variety of a fat pack but still some nice cards found here.  I like this set and will keep searching these cards out.
Some pretty nice stars in this pull including stud Vic Beasely Jr. and Aaron Rogers.
I like seeing the rookies in their college unis. Both the inserts are nice looking cards.  Plenty of color in the Fantasy Stars cards and I like this Signal Callers card of Jameis Winston.  He's looking right at you while his head is framed right between the two words nicely.
BREAKDOWN:
12 – Total Cards
3 – RC
1 – Signal Callers
1 – Fantasy Stars

2018 Score Football (Happy Mother's Day)

I passed on a pack of 2018 Score football at the card shop in Dayton due to the $12.95 price tag but I'm wishing I had grabbed one.  There are four autos per hobby box so the odds don't seem so bad to hit one.  Of course Score is a huge set and it could be an auto of about anyone in the NFL.  On to this pack.  This is my first in hand look at this year's set.  I'm good with the design though the borders could have been a bit smaller and the first name being such a small font is really annoying in person.  It scans well but they can be tough to read.  Score packs tons of inserts so there were plenty of those to enjoy.  Overall I think I like this set but the pack was disappointing.  Not much star power outside of the inserts.  With this being a 440 card set I guess it can happen.
Nice photos and I like the design.  Zero quarterback base cards.  I may be making too much of it but seemed a bit odd.
The backs are nice and colorful with the same stats, write-up and repeat photo we are used to from Score.  I think think this is a nice back.
The Captains inserts are my favorite.  Lots of team color, cool design and I'm digging the font jumping off the card.
That Scorecard is a parallel as is the Red parallel in the center.
I like all three of these inserts.  The designs all pop to me.
The Scoreboard cards highlight particular games of interest.  I like the concept.  The others here are ok but don't necessarily stand out to me.  Bottom line is I think I like this set.  I'll definitely pick up more and have more chances to help make up my mind.  The inserts in this pack helped make up for what I perceived as a weak base card pull.
