Random Wax: 2024 Donruss Football

2024 Donruss:  I'm a big Christian McCaffrey fan and it was great seeing him healthy and play 17 games last year.  He led the league in touches from scrimmage with 413, the 3rd time he's done so in his career.  He's also a 3X All-Pro.

Tyreek Hill still hasn't signed with a team since being released by Miami.  He's still recovering from a major knee injury that included a torn ACL.

Taliese Fuaga has started 30 games in his two years in the league.  Malik Washington, on this Blue Press Proof Parallel, might be in line for more targets in Miami with Hill no longer there.  He has 72 career receptions.

Greg Rousseau has started his entire career with Buffalo and has 32 career sacks.

Great threesome here.  This design isn't my favorite Donruss look but I like it enough.  And it does have solid photography as well.

Retired greats!  A great way to end the post.  I like James Lofton so that was a fun pull but also happy to get Broadway Joe and Andre Rison.

 2024 Donruss:  Georgia Bulldogs alum Matthew Stafford has been nothing short of crazy good in his career even when playing for those bad Detroit Lions teams.  Traded for Jared Goff, he brought the Rams their first Super Bowl win in over 20 years.  

Chris Jones has 87.5 sacks in his 10-year career with the Kansas City Chiefs.  He's also a 3X All-Pro

One of my Blue Parallels here.  Bucky Irving rushed for almost 600 yards in his rookie season.

I love retired greats including Zach Thomas who was born in Pampa, TX.  The Hall of Famer was also a 5X All-Pro.

Random Wax: 2024 Donruss Football

2024 Donruss:  I'm really hoping Michigan alum Aidan Hutchinson is healthy this season.  Detroit will need him after their offense lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.  Aidan only played 5 games but registered 7.5 sacks last year.

This design is very solid.  Not an all-time great but I'm good with it.  I'm a big Jonathan Taylor guy and he had another amazing year with 1400+ yards even though Indy couldn't figure out quarterback.

Retired greats and Curt Warner is a guy I always loved when I was young.  He twice rushed for over 1400 yards including his rookie season.

Fun pack of cards even if Taysom Hill is a curious option for Elite Series inserts.

Random Wax: 2024 Donruss Football Blaster

2024 Donruss:  Saquon and the Eagles take on the Chiefs today for the title.  I think Philly can win this game, but I think much of that hinges on their defense and what Saquon does on the ground.  Hoping for a great game no matter how it plays out.

I'm fine with this design but still isn't wowing me.  Justin Jefferson had another great season with over 1500 yards and 10 touchdowns.  What Minnesota does with Sam Darnold will be one of the big offseason stories.

All three of these players had solid first years in the league.

I love the retired greats as always. Steve Young in a Creamsicle uni is a great choice and lets us see Bucco Bruce for the log.  Love it!

Oh how things went wrong for A-Aron.  I really thought New York would see some success with him at QB but man it was not to be from the get go.

Nice hit here with a Jayden Daniels insert.  Not the sexiest looking card but Daniels is hot.

I like the Retro 1994 cards.  That is a design I've always liked, and it works well here on football cards.

More retired greats greatness.  I really like that Barry Sanders photo with the colors, how it is cropped and design.  Hope we get a good game tonight.

2024 Donruss Football Blaster

2024 Donruss:  I don't usually kick my posts off with offensive lineman, but I really like this photo and Joe Thuney is a 4X Super Bowl winner, 2X Pro Bowl and 1X All-Pro selection.

I'm still not sure about this design but I think I like it.  Kinda feels like we've seen something pretty similar not too long ago.

Youngsters get to shine on different cards and the Jayden Daniels is a really good pull.  I like those Rated Rookie Retro cards.

Speaking of retro, there's lots of retired greats.  Love the inclusion of some of these guys.  Danny White had a 62-30 record as a starting QB.  He was also a punter and the starter replacing Roger Staubach upon his retirement.  Vince Ferragamo and the Rams made a playoff run to the 1980 Super Bowl before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I really like the Drew Bledsoe photo.

The backs are pretty bland which is a Donruss staple.  Would have been nice if they'd had the logo on the current and retired great players as they did with the rookie cards.

Jim McMahon in an Eagles uni is a curious choice.

The Jamaal Williams is a Red Press Proof Parallel.

My inserts included Galaxy of Stars, Champ is Here and Dominators.  I really like the Champ is Here inserts.  Great way to salute each player for winning the championship.  There are 19 players and Andy Reid in the insert set.

Wish Panini would do some vertical offerings on base cards.  I think it'd work with football pretty well which we saw with Topps back in the day.

This was a fun box of cards.  I'll definitely pick up more.  Maybe try to complete the retired greats.  We'll end it with Andre Reed and that nice Bills uni.
