Random Wax: 1991 Pro Set Football Series 1 4 Packs

1991 Pro Set: Doesn't get much better than Mike Ditka.  Great player.  Great coach.  Huge personality.
Lots of greatness in this set including Dan Marino.  He and the Dolphins had just won 12 games in 1990.
Award Winner, Milestone and Officials cards.
Fun seeing players in the college unis on the Heisman Hero cards.  Feels like an insert set we could see more.
Marv Levy and Bill Parcells were two greats of the era.  Parcells had the upper hand winning the Super Bowl the one time they faced off against each other on the sport's biggest stage.

Double the Jim Kelly greatness.
World League cards.  Roman Gabriel passed away last month.  RIP.  He was a 4X Pro-Bowl and 1X All-Pro selection at quarterback as well as the 1969 API and UPI MVP.
This man was so good.  The base cards could have used that little helmet or at least a team logo.
I really like the photo of Mark Rypien.  Something about the sun and shadows.
Boomer!  Nice photo.
I enjoy seeing the stars again on these different cards highlighting accomplishments.
Son of a ...!  Such a depressing memory.  I still remember the pain watching and, while Bills fans can celebrate going to four straight Super Bowls, that one will always hurt.
The art on the All-NFC team cards is great.
Wow, those stats!
Just really good cards and such great memories.  This Dallas Public Service Announcement Warren Mood card really stands out with that photo and uni.

  1. There are some fantastic action shots in this set. I'd love to find a complete set (in binder) at the flea market for a good price.

P.S. I hadn't heard the Roman Gabriel news until this post. He was one of the QB's I remember my dad talking about as a kid.

    1. Brown is a solid selection. The Dallas Public Service Announcement cards used players from across the league.

  3. Gotta love the beauty and effort Pro Set put into their cards. Some current card brands need to step up to be as well done as Pro Set.
