2023 Topps Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Blaster

2023 Obi-Wan Cards:  I really enjoyed the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.  We'll kick these cards off with the man himself.  Ewan McGregor made Obi-Wan one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars.  Probably #2 just behind Boba Fett.  I like this photo and a good way to start.
The base design is good.  Not great but good.  These are on the thinner more common card stock Topps uses for most of their Star Wars sets. Not the thicker stock they use when going for the classic vibe.
The cards do a good job taking us back to key parts of the series which includes the Inquisitors.  On the right are Fifth Brother and Third Sister.  These are the main protagonists in the story though I won't say they overshadowed Darth Vader.
Some of the blue parallels.  I'm not a fan of how the backgrounds are masked by the color.
Heroes inserts are good looking cards and an easy way of showing us the good guys.
I really like the Original Art Reprint inserts.
More Original Art Reprint inserts.  The Darth Vader is a Manufactured Patch relic.
Red (#/99) and purple parallels.
A couple of Darth Vader and the Inquisitorius inserts, which I like, as well as a Creatures and Aliens card.
Plenty of good moments from the series help make up these cards.  Purge troopers have a cool look to them. I also like the Inquisitors who make a good foil for the good guys.  I do enjoy these cards.  Won't be finishing up the set or anything but I do like them.

Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Series (No Spoilers)

Kenobi:  This one's been out a few months now and I finished it over the weekend.  As a big Star Wars fan I'm always worried I'll be let down by these shows.  This one did not disappoint.  Really, they could have done this as a movie which could have led into a series.  Too much to do just two hours but Obi-Wan would have been fun on the big screen.  I love Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi.  Set after the prequels the Empire hasn't given up on chasing down jedi and of course Kenobi is big on the list.  If you haven't watched other series or the animated shows you'll be introduced to Inquisitors who aren't Sith but are force sensitve and hunt the Jedi.  Pretty cool characters.  Most characters you'd expect to be associated with Kenobi do make an appearance here to include a few surprises.  Some were only referenced but give us fans hope for future appearances.  I got where they were going with the show and enjoyed it.  Always small things you can knit pick but nothing that keeps me up at night.

Master & Apprentice - A Star Wars Book

Star Wars Master & Apprentice:  I really enjoyed this book.  So much so that I took a good part of Saturday on the porch to finish it.  Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are favorites of mine from the prequels so I was really looking forward to this book.  It didn't disappoint.  It follows them both on an assignment to a system where a Jedi, a friend of Qui-Gon's, has already been in place for some time.  The dynamics between the two play a big part as does the master-apprentice relationship of our two stars.  I really enjoyed seeing more of what made these two so good together as well as each as individuals.  The ancillary characters in the book do a nice job of rounding things out but these guys are definitely the highlight.  Some groundwork is laid for the prequels as well.  We see some insight into the Jedi Council as well as Dooku that give you food for thought.  This is one of my favorite Star Wars books ever and I'm not even sure if there is a Star Wars book ahead of it.

Star Wars Black 6" Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody Action Figures

Obi-Wan of the prequels is one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars universe.  Finding his Black Series 6" action figure at a Walgreens a few years back was a fun surprise.  I'm a big fan of these figures and enjoy showing them off so here are a few pics I took this morning of Obi-Wan and Commander Cody.  Obi-Wan's character in the prequels was fun with a good sense of humor.  Attaining the ranks of Jedi Master he may have error-ed in taking on the training of Anakin Skywalker but we all make mistakes, right?   And then he of course didn't finish off Anakin when had the chance ("It's over Anakin.  I have the high ground.").  He might have also lied to Luke about his father but I don't let all these facts ruin my fandom.
The figure itself is nice and was part of the blue wave that came out in 2014 and 2015.  There are some highlights to his hair on either side that I'm not quite sure about but I still like the detail.
Commander Cody was a Clone Commander assigned to work with Obi-Wan during the Clone Wars.  He had a pretty big part in the Clones Wars TV Series and a fan favorite.  I was also one of those who liked his character.  Unfortunately their pairing came to an end when Order 66 was issued and Commander Cody ordered Obi-Wan be killed.  While Obi-Wan survived it's a big hit to Cody's legacy obviously.  Of course this was part of all of the Clone's indoctrination but still a few, very few, were able to ignore Order 66 and left for other adventures.  This is a pretty cool figure and nice addition to the collection.
Here's the link to my other Black 6" figure posts.
