Random Wax: 2019 Donruss Football

2019 Donruss Football:  This year's Donruss football offering is one I like.  I pulled a Matt Ryan Retro 1999 card and it is one I really.  That is a really cool design.  I've read Retro 1999 is a hobby only offering so I'm not sure how I got hold of a hobby pack.  

Some nice stars in this pack including Travis Kelce who still has one more game to play.

More solid players including an all-time great in Steve Largent.  Loved watching him play back in the day.

This was a solid pack with more players I was happy to pull.

I like this team card.  It has the Patriot's schedule on the backside.  Design is simple but I like the idea of cards like this.

Will Phillip Rivers return to the Chargers?  Eli has retired already.  I think Rivers comes back but there are definitely mixed signals out there.  This was fun and a solid pack.

Random Wax: 2019 Donruss Football

2019 Donruss Football:  Another pack of the 2019 Donruss football which has plenty to like including retired greats like my man John Elway.  Ironically he, and my man crush, Tom Brady both beat my Atlanta Falcons in their two Super Bowl appearances.  Ouch.

Jared Goff and the Rams have really struggled this year.  Goff has more interceptions than touchdowns and has to turn his season around if they are to have any chance of making the playoffs.

More retired greats are always a good thing.  Ozzie Newsome is not only a hall of fame tight end but was also a great General Manager for the Ravens.  In his last draft he drafted Lamar Jackson who of course is starring in his second year in the league.

Robert Quinn is having an outstanding year for the Cowboys.  He already has 9.5 sacks for the 'Boys.  This is a fun brand and I know there'll be more in my future.

McCaffrey is a stud and helped put my fantasy team in the playoffs.

2019 Donruss Football:  This is one of those Dollar Tree eight card retail packs.  A fun pack for the size.  Hall of FamerTerry Bradshaw leads us off.  Definitely a draw to this brand is those retired greats.

    So odd seeing Clay Matthews not in a Packers' uni.  He is currently out with a broken jaw but I think he might return sometime soon.  Drafted 7th overall in this year's draft Josh Allen already has seven sacks as an edge rusher.  The backs are pretty blah but it is what you get with this brand year in and year out.

Can't go wrong with Russell Wilson.  There is definitely more Donruss football in my future.

2019 Donruss Football:  Another pack of  this set that I like.  Pretty simple design with some good photos.  McCaffrey is nothing short of a stud and the anchor my fantasy team.  

Some nice star power here.

The backs on these cards are pretty blah.  Matty Ice and the Falcons are struggling so much this year.  It's hard to watch.  This team was breaking my heart in the Super Bowl just two years ago.

Retired greats are good.  

I like the retro logos for the Bengals and Eagles on these cards.  Another fun pack of cards.  I can definitely see me picking up more of these in the future.

2019 Donruss Football

This 2019 Donruss football pack was a retail pack which had eight cards but was still plenty of fun.  I don't tend towards the small packs but I hadn't found the larger value packs yet.  I love retired greats and this had a couple to satisfy the itch.  I really liked this Warren Moon card so he leads us off though it was a tough pick between him and the All-Time Gridiron Kings Jerry Rice.

The design is one I like.  Reading the press releases when it was first showing up on the internet I thought it looked good and wasn't disappointed with the cards in hand.

I like the rookie cards with players in their college unis while still having the NFL team logo of the franchise that drafted them.  Nothing against Score but Score comes out so early you don't know who the players were drafted by and have to look them all up if you sort players by team.  

The All-Time Gridiron Kings is a nice design though the border color is boring.  Gray works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't.  This is a time it doesn't for me.  Still I'll probably look to complete the Gridiron Kings set. Good first pack and look forward to more Donruss football this year.
