Random Wax: 1990 Upper Deck Baseball

1990 UD:  Will Clark was a great hitter averaging .303 for his 15-year career.  He also batted .333 in 31 games with San Francisco, Texas and St. Louis.  Clark's first hit, in his first at bat, was a home run off Nolan Ryan in 1986.

Willie McGee, a switch hitter, had more hits than Clark in his 18-year career while hitting .295 in his career.  He also won an MVP and 2X batting titles.  Like many I've always been a fan of this set.

In 1991, Clark would set a career high in runs batted in with 116 and would lead the league with a .536 slugging percentage.

The backs really are nice even if we don't get career stats.

1985 was Willie McGee's MVP season.

I'm a big Robin Yount fan and I'm a big Upper Deck Checklist card fan with that art.  Yount was a 2X MVP who had 3,142 hits in his 20-year career.

Random Wax: 1992 Triple Play (4 Packs)

1992 Triple Play:  Dwight Gooden's 1985 season was one of the best I've ever seen.  24-4, 1.53 ERA, 268 strikeouts, 16 complete games, and 276 innings pitched - all lead leading - enroute to winning the pitching triple crown.

Random Wax: 1991 Fleer Baseball (4 Packs)

1991 Fleer:  The All-Star game is tonight and Dave Winfield knows a thing or two about the All-Star game being named to 12 Midsummer Classics in a row (77-88).  Drafted by the NBA/ABA, MLB and NFL he batted .283, with 3,110 hits and 465 home runs over 22 seasons.  He won a championship with the 1992 Blue Jays and was also a 7X Gold Glover and 6X Silver Slugger while also winning the Clemente award once.  

Greg Maddux threw 13 complete game shutouts while pitching less than 100 pitches.  He as an 8X All-Star.

Some A's love including Hall of Famers Harold Baines and Dennis Eckersley who were both 6X All-Stars. Willie was pretty good himself with 4X All-Star games.

We love the stickers and the stats on the back.  Great job Fleer.  I like how MLB does Legend picks for the All-Star game now.  This year it is Justin Verlander.

Kirk Gibson was never an All-Star but had plenty of highlight moments in his career, including helping the Dodgers beat the A's in the World Series with a home run off Eck that is one of the best World Series moments ever.

The backs have that muted look to them, but we forgive them because of the great stats we get.  Wade Boggs was a 12X All-Star.

Dwight Gooden made 4 All-Star teams.  Always fun cards.

Random Wax: 2026 Topps Baseball Hanger Box

 2026 Topps: Garrett Crochet is injured and a big loss to the struggling Red Sox.  Their pitching is the lone bright point for Boston.  Injuries aren't new to Crochet, but he had an amazing season in 2025, his first with the BoSox - 18-5 2.59 ERA 205 innings 1 shutout 255 strikeouts.  He led the league in innings pitched, strikeouts and batters faced.

Looking to lead the league in triples for the 4th consecutive year, Corbin Carroll currently leads the league with 10.  Max Fried hasn't pitched since early May due to injury but has a 4-3 record with a 3.21 ERA across 10 games.

Somehow Corbin Carroll snuck into a second scan of cards.  Shea Langeliers was just named an All-Star for the first time and already has 20 dingers on the season.

Us Braves fans do miss Max.

Jac Caglianone is having a solid sophomore season with KC.

I think we get good photography again this season.

More inserts to end this post.  Stars of MLB and Titans of the Game.  I'm good with though I wish the Titans of the Game inserts said "Titans" more in the design.  Not sure how you pull that off though.  Another good box of cards from this set which I enjoy.

1986 Fleer Baseball

1986 Fleer:  Sweet Lou was Rookie of the Year, a 5X All-Star, 4X Silver Slugger and 3X Gold Glove selectee.  He won a Championship with the 1984 Detroit Tigers.  He played his entire 19-year career in Detroit and turned 1,527 double plays with shortstop Alan Trammel, an MLB record that will probably never be broken.

This design is one I've always liked for some reason.  Very simple but works for me though more action shots would have been appreciated.  Bill Madlock won 4 batting titles, 2 with the Cubs and 2 with the Pirates, and won a championship with the 1979 Pirates.  Cecil Cooper was a career .298 hitter and Jerry Royster is one of the random favorite all-time players of mine.

The backs have tons of stats which is great.  Not the most visually appealing but I'll take stats any day.  The back of the sticker is solid with fun famous feats.  

Greg Gross hit .287 and had a .387 on base percentage over 3,745 at bats but only hit 7 dingers.  Five of those in one season.  Power was definitely not his thing.

Ron Washington with the great look rocking the hair and Twins uni.  John Franco was a 4X All-Star and twice the Rolaids Relief pitcher of the year.  Fun pack of cards and we'll end it with the always fun sticker.

Random Wax: 2025 Topps Baseball

2025 Topps:  Ted William's stats are pure video game stuff but I'll cherry pick a few:  

1941: Batted .406
1942: Triple Crown
1943-1945: Served in WWII
1946: MVP
1947: Triple Crown

I've always been a fan of Nolan Arenado, who I know is nearing the end of his career but I'm hoping for a bounce back year.  He's already on pace for his most home runs since 2023.  Matt Chapman had 8 RBIs against the Cubs this month.   What has happened to Chicago?  Zach Wheeler is 36 years-old but he's having another great year for Philly.

What a start to Yoshinobu Yamamoto's career. 2X World Series winner, 1X World Series MVP and an All-Star nod.  And yes, he's doing excellent again this season.

Astros Team Card.  They have dealt with so many injuries this year and it's not surprising they are struggling.

Ronald Acuna Jr.'s bat finally started coming around...and he hurt his hamstring again...  ugh.  Looking good on this Stars of MLB card though.

Some horizontal goodness including this Checklist card featuring the Tampa Bay Rays on the front.

Anthony Rizzo helped the Chicago Cubs get the monkey off their back in 2016 with a championship.  I was okay being happy for Cubs fans who had suffered for so long.
