Random Wax: 2021 Chronicles Football

2021 Chronicles Football:  Let's kick off another one of these packs with a retired great.  Moon was not only great but he also got to wear the cool Houston Oilers unis.  Would have liked to see the colored jersey top but I'm still good with this look.
These are the Chronicles cards but there is so much more to this set.
So many other brands included in this set.  You have to love the variety.
This Omega is a nice looking card.  I like the colors and how the football strings are incorporated in the design.
The Panini design is a bit boring so a few less of these would have been okay.  Chronicles even has Prizm Black as part of the brand.  Fun pack and decent pull.

1996 Universal Monsters Of The Silver Screen

1996 Universal Monsters Of The Silver Screen: Frankenstein taking a shot and smoking a cigarette might be something some parents will relate to after tonight.  The back didn't explain the photo but I love it.  I also like the design.  The red foil doesn't detract from the picture.
The backs have a nice write-up with good information.  Simple but good.
There are plenty of movies included you probably haven't heard of like this one - The Man Who Reclaimed His Head.  I love this genre/era of horror movies but admittedly I don't remember ever seeing most of the lesser known releases like this one.
At least the information on the backs give you some background for the movies you may not be familiar with.
The movies Night Key and The Mad Doctor of Market Street.
This is a sticker which is cool.  The old movie posters are always a hit.  There are some pretty cool and iconic photos in this set.  Plenty of others that aren't but still fun.  Have a safe and fun Halloween!

2002 Bench Warmer with Autograph

2002 Bench Warmer:  This pack was a winner for more than the obvious reasons.  I pulled an autograph of Ms. Katie Lae.  Not sure what she is up to these days but it's always fun to find an auto when opening wax.  I like to add these to my October blogging as one, I do like this genre of cards and October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Make sure you are checking out Collecting Cutch's Save Second Base campaign.  He does this every October on his blog to up breast cancer awareness.  Check out what he does and you can visit the National Breast Cancer Organization to donate or get educated.
The ladies really do stand out on these cards but the design needs some color to it.  They've done a good job of doing that in other designs.  You can see those I've posted here.  I do think the Bench Warmer logo is a really nice but again I don't think it would take much to add some splash to the card without detracting from the ladies.  Like you really could.
That first back of from a Preview Card.  The others are standard backs that contains stats and information about the modes.  Pretty corny but it works.
This Replay Card and Bonus Card seem to be part of the base set with no difference other than the circle logo in the corner.  I prefer the basic Bench Warmer logo.
Fun cards and nice looking ladies.  I hope you enjoyed.  Make sure you're checking out Cutch's blog year round.

1994 Team USA Fleer Flair

1994 USA Basketball Fleer Flair:  I neglected to throw up a basketball post on opening night so let's rectify that.  Here's a pack of Team USA Fleer Flair for 1994.  Never seen these before so they are a welcome sight.  Shaq led this team averaging 18 PPG and RPG.
Great 'Nique and Reggie cards.  They made their debuts with the '94 Team USA squad and no player returned from the infamous '92 team.  The design and photos are really good.  I do wish the Team USA jersey shot was in the forefront as that is the basis of this set and we get to see their NBA jerseys plenty in other sets.
Love how they prioritized shooting even back then.  Thunder Dan and Steve Smith were such sharp shooters.  This Team USA roster won gold at the FIBA World Cup.  The backs have decent write-ups.
Great seeing the ladies team get an inclusion here as well as the coaches.  These are really good looking cards and they didn't brick which I was really worried about.  Wish I had picked these up prior to the Olympics.  Hope everyone else is enjoying the NBA season too.  Go Blazers and Hawks!

Sleepaway Camp

Sleepaway Camp:   I doubt many folks are familiar with this one.  It seems straightforward as it follows a young girl at summer camp.  Soon bad things start happening to staff and campers.  Seems straightforward and much of the movie is forgettable though it does have some moments that are strange and some that'll make you cringe.  Many might not make it through this movie.  But the ending.  Definitely a "what the heck" moment.  Didn't see that coming.  Is it worth watching the entire film to get there?  I don't know.  Some say really good things about the movie so maybe it's best you decide on your own.

The Scary House

The Scary House: Always on the lookout for new scary movies in October.  This one came up on Netflix.  Family moves into a house, find it has dark secrets, and scary stuff ensues.  Not an original tale but done a little different.  The movie isn't bad but I wouldn't say run out and see it.  It was made in Austria and is dubbed over.  It wasn't distracting which is a plus.  I also had on the subtitles and the words spoken were different from the subtitles.  Not a big deal as it didn't change the meaning in any way but was different.  There were aspects of the movie I enjoyed and maybe some of you will as well.  I think I'll rewatch some more of the classics as we wind down October.

Random Wax: 2020 Topps Baseball Update

2020 Topps Update:  World Series kicks off tonight so let's do some baseball.  Big Mac went to three World Series winning one with the Oakland A's when they defeated the Giants in 1989.  Love the All-Star cards with retired greats.
More All-Star Game coolness.

Those retro cards are too cool.  I'm not a big fan of the Turkey Red but I know many are.  That Griffey is a Chrome variation of the Turkey Red.
Greinke is a favorite of mine.
We'll have a new champion in a week or less.  Enjoy the World Series!

1994 Topps Universal Monsters

1994 Universal Monsters:  The pack of this one says Universal Monsters Illustrated with a 1991 trademark but it seems to come up as 1994 Universal Monsters when I do the Google thing.  <shrugs>  I do like these.  The illustrations are basic but affective.
My pack stuck to the big hitters of the Universal Monster universe including The Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula.
The backs may be even better than the fronts.  Two images and and an explanation of what we see on the front.  Glad they don't duplicate the photo from the front.
The Wolfman is my favorite of the era.  Just something about the character's look and the movie I always enjoyed.
Looks like the Wolfman is hugging his human self at first look.
These are representations of The Bride of Frankenstein and The Invisible Man.
Fun pack.  I love this genre of movies.  I really hope they can do a successful reboot of the universe someday.

1993 Portfolio International Endless Summer

1993 Portfolio International Endless Summer: This is the back of Ms. Tummond's card but I really liked the photo so we'll start here.
Portfolio put out this ode to summer specializing in ladies in swimsuits...I think that middle one is a swimsuit.  I like their logo and this design.
The backs might honestly be my favorite part of the cards.  You'll see different photos and I find them to be better photos overall.  You'll get a quick write-up specific to the model.  It works.
The cover cards are an insert while the Wild Wave (center) cards are parallels which I like.
Again some really nice photos on the backs as well.
Hope you enjoyed and don't forget to check out Cutch's blog this month and year around.  We'll end it with one of my favorite backs...no pun intended.

Random Wax: 2020 Score Football Blaster with Relic

2020 Score Football:  This design isn't my favorite from Score but I think it's growing on me.  Maybe it's just this nice airborne shot of Ezekiel Elliott or all the great photos from this box.
Really good pull in this blaster.
Photography on many of these cards really is good.
Plenty of variety when it comes to Score.  Inserts and parallels help you from getting bored and give you more chances at star players.
My relic. Seattle may be struggling but this guy is really good.
Really enjoying the photos on these cards.
Plenty of rookie star power as well I like the collage unis and logos.

I just don't get the Deep Dive inserts.  I try but just can't figure them out.  Fun blaster with a really good pull.  I picked this one up over a year ago but finally got around to posting it.  I enjoy looking back at these.  You get to see the Sammy Watkins card one more time.  I'm a fan of his and this is a great photo.
