Random Wax: 2021 Playoff Football

2021 PlayoffJosh Allen and the Bills didn't win the AFC East this year but it still feels like they can make a deep run in the playoffs.  It felt like and uneven year for both Buffalo and Allen, but he did set a career mark connecting on 69% of his passes.  Go Bills!
Picked this pack up 4 years ago and just now showing it off.  These three have all aged well while Myles Garrett has been a 4X All-Pro.  He truly is a beast on defense.  Joey Bosa had a solid first season in Buffalo this year.
Ernest Jones won a Super Bowl with Los Angeles and is now having a career year with the Seahawks.
Love retired greats in this set and these really are some all-time greats.
Trey Lance never figured it out and is now a backup with the Chargers.
Lots of red going on here.  Some great tight ends as well including Travis Kelce who may be hanging it up this year.
A nice Call to Arms insert.  Who knew how the last 4 years would have gone for Russell Wilson.  I certainly didn't see it coming.
Great pack of cards.  We'll end it with more all-time greats including Warren Moon and Joe Thomas, both of whom I'm big fans of.  Thomas started all 16 games in 10 straight seasons.

Random Wax: 2021 Playoff Football Blaster

2021 Playoff:  It's the playoffs so these are fun to show off.  Aaron Donald got 6 sacks in 11 playoff games and won a Super Bowl Championship with the Rams.
The running game made a resurgence this season and Derrick Henry was a big part of it.  He rushed for 1921 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Mixed results for all three of these rookies from 2021.
Ja'Marr Chase has proven all the hype around him coming out of college was justified.
Dawkins was one of the defensive backs of his generation.
This is another box that was bought in years past that I've never posted.  I bought this blaster in April of 2022.  Who woulda thunk, but Dak Prescott is the only one of these three players not in the playoffs this year.
Love the retired greats in this set.
The Bills get the Ravens this weekend at home.  Definitely scary for us Bills fans but if you are going to be the best you have to beat the best.  If their defense doesn't allow Baltimore to go crazy, I think Buffalo has a great chance.  And Josh Allen has been Thunder and Lightning this season.
Rams hot box!  Cooper Kupp had his best season as a pro in 2021.  145 receptions, 1947 yards and 16 touchdowns - just wow.  That Ernest Jones is one of my three Kickoff parallels.  Fun cards.  I like the design, the retired greats and looking back a few years in time.

Random Wax: 2021 Playoff Football

2021 Playoff:  Playoffs are in full swing and I'll show off this pack I purchased a few years ago and never posted.  Joe Burrow isn't in the playoffs but he's been in the playoffs a lot having already started a Super Bowl in his four-year career.

TJ Watt is the only one of these three still on the same team as Russell Wilson and Davante Adams have moved on to Denver and La Vegas, respectively.  Can't wait to see where Russell Wilson ends up.  He had a really good year.  Maybe he stays in Denver but that has been a weird ride for him.
DeVonta Smith and Chubba Hubbard are both key stars on their teams.
Culpepper is a guy it's easy to forget about but he had some great seasons with the Vikings.
Love the retired greats in this set.
Julio's time in Tennessee is largely forgettable and he is currently a Philadelphia Eagle.
Really good pack of cards.  I like this design and my pull, veteran and rookie, was a good one.

Random Wax: 2020 Playoff Football

2020 Playoff:  This brand is always fun if for no other reason than the retired greats.  One of my all-time favorites in the form of John Elway kicks off this pack with a Behind the Numbers insert.  I miss watching him play.  Man he had a cannon for an arm.
Not a design I'm a fan of but we get a mix of retired greats and stars from today.  Bought this pack in December, 2020 and just now showing it off.  Christian McCaffrey only played three games in 2020 due to injury while Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons went 4-12 that season.
Rookies received a different design and we get to see their fun college unis.
Did I say I like retired greats?  These are all keepers for me.  Who doesn't love Peyton or the creamsicle unis and Brian Urlacher is one of the great Bears linebackers and came from a small town close to where I grew up.
And we had no idea what drama would befall Deshaun Watson after the 2020 season.  Williams (though injured) and Metcalf are still going strong in the league.  The Rams are struggling while Aaron Donald can still hit double digits in sacks if he stays healthy.  Nice pull in this pack and very fun.

Random Wax: 2020 Playoff Football Blaster

2020 Playoff Football:  Josh Allen and the Bills have had a good start to the year but losses from opponents within the division has given fans pause.  Allen has been dealt with some injuries as well but is still one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
Love the retired greats in this set.  Eric Dickerson and LT are favorites of mine while I always liked Andre Tippett as well.  All three also show off the unis of their teams that I like.
No issues with these guys either.  I actually purchased this right before Tom Terrific and the Bucs won the Super Bowl last year.  Yes, I've had this blaster that long and am just now getting around to posting it.
More retired greats so I'm in and I like the theme here.
More inserts.  Gardner Minshew had a hot moment where he and his hair were a thing.  And wow that Henry Ruggs card has an entirely new vibe to it after his DUI arrest in which someone died.  John Elway is an all-time favorite of mine.  Loved watching him sling it when I was younger.
My relic from the blaster.  Kmet had a really good year two last season with 60 receptions but has fallen off some this year.  The Bears offense seems to be a bit better of late so maybe his stats will see an uptick.
Overall this is a really good box.  No complaints here.  We'll end it with a nice-looking Chase Young card.  He's still recovering from injury but I'm hoping he can return to form when he gets back on the field.

2021 Playoff Football

2021 Playoff Football:  The NFL draft starts tonight so what better way than to show off some football cards.  Found this 2021 Playoff in February but wanted to show it off today with the draft kicking off.  Cause what are all the teams trying to do?  Reach the playoffs?  The Rams nailed that with a Super Bowl win after picking up Matthew Stafford last year.  Love the former Georgia Bulldog and really happy for him.  It also got him a nice contract in the off season so things are good for Stafford right now.
You know what you get with Playoff football - a simple but good design.  This year is no different.  I like the design which has some "layers" to it which are subtle but nice.  The pull in this first pack was great.  Always a nice way to start off new cards.
I like the RC cards.  The muted backgrounds set them apart and the player "action" photos are good.
Retired greats!  You know I love retired greats and this set has plenty.
Shiny card thing going on with these Behind the Numbers cards. Not a bad look. A few more inserts might help the set some.  They don't have to go overboard but I basically got two inserts and a few parallels out of 40 cards.
The backs are fine.  I'd like more stats but outside of Topps cards we'll never get more than the last season and totals lines anymore.  The packs of these have 40 cards each which is really nice.  I don't feel quite as "fleeced" as I do with some other sets.
I'm really digging this set.  It helps that I pulled so many stars of the league but I'm enjoying the design as well. Hope your team does well in the draft.  We all have hope starting tonight.

Random Wax: 2020 Playoff Football

2020 Playoff Football:  This set isn't a favorite of mine but I am a big fan of Joe Thomas.  Dude was a beast on the offensive line.  Really wish he had been able to be on a good Cleveland team but alas that never happened.  He started a remarkable 167 straight games of the 167 games he played and didn't miss a game until his final year in the league.  This 10 time Pro-Bowler should be a first ballot hall of famer when he hits the ballot.
As I've said before there is way too much white and in hand it is even more off putting.
Claypool and Kmet have both been good pickups for their respective team though Claypool has definitely been the better of the two.
These last four guys really helped my pull in this pack.  I know I didn't think the Bucs would be World Champions at the end of the season when I picked up this pack in December.  Fun pack even if the design is a big wonky.
