Random Wax: 2017-2018 Prestige Basketball w/auto

These 2017-2018 Prestige basketball cards are a good set.  I've had some good pulls from these packs to include a Jayson Tatum auto.  This auto was of Dwight Powell whose career so far is unremarkable but he is not a nobody.  So definitely a good pack that I found in the bargain bin at the local Wal-Mart.  David Robinson is a personal collection guy so this was a great card to find.
Stat Stars insert and a couple of the parallels - Micro Etched Green Rookie and Rain parallels.
A nice pull apart from the auto itself.  These three need no introduction.
I really hope Gordon Hayward can come back from injury and regain his all-star form.

Random Wax: 2017-2018 Prestige Basketball - BOOM!

Wow.  This was just a random 2017-2018 Prestige basketball pack I grabbed since we are almost to the NBA Finals and this auto happened.  This has been an unreal NBA card season for me.  This is my 5th autograph since November and 2nd of Jayson Tatum.  The other three were of Luke Kennard, Mario Hezonja, and Jake Layman.  I've never experienced anything like this and I'm aware of how lucky I am.  I don't really collect autographs so this one is also up on eBay.  The card itself is a great card especially in light of last night's game and the Eastern Conference Finals as a whole that just finished up.  Tatum posterized LeBron in the game last night and that's a great look (or not) on James' face in this card.
The rest of the pack wasn't bad either but of course it was just a blur once I saw the Tatum auto.
Parallels included this Bright Green Micro Etch rookie and a couple of rain parallels.  De-Aaron Fox is a rookie I thought might have a little better first year but I still think he can turn into an excellent player long term.
Quite a few inserts as well.  I like the Stars of the NBA and Rookie Class cards.

And Tatum once again...

Random Wax: 2017-2018 Prestige Basketball

The NBA Playoffs have me all hyped up on basketball so grabbing a 2017-2018 Prestige basketball pack was too easy.  The Donovan Mitchell card is pretty cool.  The rookie is having a great year and it's sweet they already have a card highlighting one of his early games.
I like the Stars of the NBA cards and the Rain Parallel Stat Stars LeBron James is pretty nice.  A couple of stars I'll never turn down.
Pretty good pull.  Between rookie of the year candidate Mitchell, Kyrie, LeBron and these three I had no reason to complain.  That combined with this being a brand I like it was a fun pack.
Players are also showcased in their new team's uniforms (Lopez and Russell) which is always a plus.

2017-2018 Prestige Basketball Cards

Grabbed two packs of the 2017-2018 Prestige basketball for a total of 60 cards.  I really liked last year's Prestige offering so I was curious to see if they could wow me again this year.  Again I'm very happy the simple design and nice photos.  I'm not quite as impressed as I was with last year's cards but I still like them.  Why did they drop the team logo though?  It is something I'm big on and doesn't have to be that big.  I preferred the backs from last year but these aren't all that bad.
My pull didn't seem as star laden as the two Contenders packs I picked up at the same time.  Still I won't complain and it may be more of a product of having more total cards here.  Still I did pick up good players and I think the Lonzo Ball cards are the first ones I've grabbed this year.
Had to post that Justise Winslow card in my post.  The look on his face is great.
I really like these Timberwolves jerseys and I'm also a big Jimmy Butler fan so I'm digging this Stars of the NBA card.  The Micro Etch Rookies Bright Green card seemed out of place with the rest of the cards.  I didn't post a rain parallel but literally the cards are designed to feature rain over cards.  It isn't a bad look but hard to capture in a scan.
I'll definitely grab more of these.  They are my favorite of the low end basketball cards this year.  I'm usually one of the few scooping these up so there are plenty to pick up as the season winds down.
