Random Wax: 2021 Score Football

2021 Score:   Patrick Mahomes is one of the big questions when the new season starts this fall.  He's coming off a major injury, the Chiefs were already struggling, and you just never know how these things play out.  I really hope he comes back close to normal.
I bought this pack in July of 2021 but just posting it now.  Like a little time capsule.  Things are so different now.  Russel Wilson and the Seahawks had won the 2013 championship and were still on top of the world.  It would still be a few years, but things would change drastically for both.
I had hopes for Zach Wilson.  Maybe rooting for the BYU underdog.  He's still in the league but it has been a rough go of it for him.
I'm okay with the 3D inserts showcasing a trio of defensive players from a team.
Mac Jones has also struggled overall in his career, but he did have success his rookie year in New England and in limited time last year with the 49ers last season.  These are 1991 Throwback Rookies inserts.
More Score Team inserts, which are pretty good, a Next Level Stats insert and Game Face which gives us a retired great.

Random Wax: 2024 Score Football

2024 Score:   The draft was last week, and all teams have hope again!  Well, most teams do.  Dak Prescott was a 4th round pick in the 2016 draft when Jared Goff was the #1 pick by the Rams their first season back in LA.  Love him or hate him, he's 83-55 in the regular season and 2-5 in the playoffs.
Quinnen Williams was drafted 3rd over all in the 2019 draft and has been 1X All-Pro and 4X Pro-Bowl selection.
Marvin Harrison Jr. was taken 4th overall in the 2024 draft.  This is a solid design for Score.  The helmets are a big plus.
Taken 24th overall in the 2018 draft, DJ Moore was traded to the Buffalo Bills in the offseason.  Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley were taken 1, 2 in that draft respectively.
Malik Nabers was taken 6th overall in the 2024 draft.  His 2025 season was cut short due to injury.  Caleb Williams, Jayden Williams and Drake Maye were the first three picks of that quarterback heavy draft.
Trey Hendrickson is a 1X All-Pro and 4X Pro Bowl selection but was taken in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft.  Myles Garrett was taken 1st overall that year.  He's alright.
I'm not a big fan of these though I normally like League Leaders.  These seem to have some random stats, and the overall design isn't my thing.  Brandon Aubrey just signed a 4 yr $28M extension with the Cowboys.  He was went undrafted when Bryce Young was the #1 pick in the 2023 draft.
Celebration are fun inserts.  Tyreek Hill is a 5X All-Pro but was only a 5th round pick in the 2016 draft.  Corey Coleman was the 1st receiver taken in that draft but only totaled 61 receptions in his three seasons in the NFL.
Retired great Ray Lewis making an appearance on that Red Parallel.  One of three in the pack.  Hall of Famer Andre Tippett has always been a favorite of mine.  The 2X All-Pro was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1982 draft.  The Patriots had the #1 overall pick of that draft as well picking defensive end Kenneth Sims.  I love these First Ballot inserts.

2025 Score Football Blaster

2025 ScoreDrake Maye and the Patriots, while they didn't come out of nowhere, they did surprise us.  Maye took his game to another level and is a huge part of why New England will be in the Super Bowl.  I really like these Throwbacks inserts.  \
Some running back love.  I like this design.  It has that Score feel and I like the helmet.  McCaffrey is my favorite player in the league today, and I have a soft spot for running backs and all three of these are excellent backs.  James Cook led the league in rushing with 1,621 yards and added 12 touchdowns.  McCaffrey had an amazing season with over 2100 yards from scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns.
Quite a few rookies in blasters.  Ashton Jeanty stood out.  He had almost 1,000 yards in his rookie year.  Jalon Walker also had a good year with 5.5 sacks.
This relic is a Stars of the NFL Jerseys insert. It's not bad and I like seeing veterans on relics.
Retired greats!  I always find these fun and all three of these are players I like.  Brian Urhlacher's hometown of Lovington, NM is only 20 minutes from where I grew up.
I enjoy Celebration inserts and this year's design is one I like.
I'm a fan of First Ballot inserts as well.  Anything highlighting players in the Hall is good with me.   League Leaders are always fun and great to look back on years later.  That Troy Franklin is a Stars Parallel #/499.  I like the look.
Sack Attack is another one I like.  Score hits the mark on a lot of their inserts.
I like Anniversary Rookies.  They have a good look and are a nod to past designs.  Travis Hunter played in 7 games and had 28 receptions while also playing defense (no interceptions).
Ladd McConkey is still a big part of the Chargers offense but couldn't replicate the numbers from his excellent rookie season.
I like the backs.  Lots of color and we also get a different photo from what we see on the front.
Georgia Bulldog alum Brock Bowers dealt with injuries this season, but he will be a big part of the offense next year when presumed #1 pick Fernando Mendoza joins the team.
Bryce Young and the Panthers made the playoffs, and it took the Rams the entirety of their playoff game to get past them.
More amazing, retired greats.
You know I like these, so we'll end it with more Throwbacks and Seattle, who'll be meeting the Patriots in the Super Bowl today.  Enjoy the game!

Random Wax: 2022 Score Football

2022 Score:  They don't get much better than The Sherriff.  Peyton Manning really is one of the greats in the history of the sport.  He was a 7X All-Pro 1st Team selection and All-Pro selections aren't just handed out.  For context, Rodgers had 4, Brady had 3, Brees 1 and Elway no 1st team All-Pro selections.  Manning's 7 is the most by a QB in history while Jerry Rice and Jim Otto are the all-time leaders with 10 each.  Manning also played in 5 AFC Championship games, winning 4.  And I love these First Ballot inserts.
Matt Stafford and the Rams play the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship today.  Stafford is a 1X All-Pro selection and the favorite to win the MVP this year.
These three haven't made a big impact in the league.  I do like the look of the Throwback Rookie cards.
I like the Celebration inserts as well.  Always fun.
More youngsters.  Hutchinson has been a stud since coming into the league.  Jameson Williams has also been an excellent receiver for the Lions.  Not a big fan of the PROtential design but I like the idea.
Sack Attack is another fun insert, and we get a retired great here.
I'm not a fan of this design per se, but I do like seeing more retired greats.
Huddle Up is a simple insert but for some reason it works for me as well.

Random Wax: 2024 Score Football

2024 Score:  For all the Cowboys' issues, their offense isn't one of them.  CeeDee Lamb has dealt with some injuries this year but is still a favorite of Dak Prescott.
Three more stars of the league including Keenan Allen one of my three Red Parallels.  Allen is happy to be back with the Chargers and having Justin Herbert throwing to him.  Allen has been so good and so steady for so long.
Dak's had a little bit to celebrate about this year.  The Cowboys are struggling but Dak Prescott is doing his job with the offense and racking up points.
That Troy Fautanu is a Dots Gold Parallel #/240.  He's the starting tackle for the Steelers.
Nick Bosa is hurt this season, and it seems most of San Fran is banged up, but he looks good on this Sack Attack insert.
J.J. McCarthy is back and has looked good in spurts for the Vikings who are still in the playoff hunt.  Nice looking Xavier Worthy on that Protential.
I like League Leaders cards.  These are a bit different.  I think I'd prefer something close to baseball league leaders where we get multiple players on the front.
Cowboy hot pack!  I like this photo.
Retired greats are always fun, and the Hall of Fame cards are great.
