Random Wax: 1990 Pro Set Football

1990 Pro Set Football:  This is a set I really like and I know I opened a large amount of packs back in the day.  This Warren Moon is a great start.  I'm a big fan and I love Pro Bowl cards with in-game photos.  Perfect combination.

Some dominant defensive lineman back in the day and more of those Pro Bowl cards.  Love it.  And if you're going to get a coach few topped Parcells back then.
I really enjoy Super Bowl cards.  One of my favorite all-time inserts is the Super Bowl MVP set from this Pro Set issue.  I picked it up a few years ago on eBay and you can see my blog entry here.  Speaking of defensive line greatness...
The backs are great.  An extra photo, plenty of stats, we got color and a nice write-up.  Pro Set knew how to do backs.  This was a fun pack and I wouldn't mind a box of these so I may have to put that on the want list.

Random Wax: 2019 WWE Women's Division Blaster

2019 WWE Women's Division: Found this one still on a shelf at a Wal-Mart I don't get to much and I couldn't pass this up. And it ties in perfectly with October because if anyone makes you want to Save Second Base it's these gals.  Please check out Collecting Cutch and his Save Second Base campaign.  He does it in a fun way each year and recently did his 100th post in support of this great cause.  October is breast cancer awareness month and donations to the cause can be done here.  Alexa Bliss is my favorite gal from the WWE and I really enjoy finding her cardboard.
Roster cards make up a good portion of your pull and are always appreciated even with these static photos.
Plenty of variety in these blasters.  These are Evolution highlights.
These Trish and Lita Highlights come one per pack.
In ring photos are great.  Definitely something I look forward to in these sets and all Topps wrestling sets.
Always enjoy seeing retired legends.
My relic.  My last blaster of these I pulled a relic as well though it was a parallel numbered #/75.
These are always fun and this really was a good box.  I like my pull and enjoyed seeing all the ladies of the WWE.

Zion Williamson 2019-2020 Chronicles Box Break - Ben's Cards and Collectibles

2019-2020 Chronicles Basketball:  With basketball at a premium I was very excited when a Chronicles break was posted by Ben's Cards and Collectibles Box Breaks.  He had many blasters and hanger boxes and maybe some packs.  He did random slots on this break and I grabbed two.  I hit the lottery by snagging New Orleans along with Houston.  These have already found another home.  I'd love to sit on these but I still have other Zion cards and this will help with other priorities...and some cards of course.  Make sure you check out Ben's breaks.  They are very reasonable and he hits all the sports old and new.
I was unable to watch the video live but when I did get a chance I was all giddy.  Sixteen Zion cards!  That is craziness and a lot of fun.  This pink parallel Crusade was the big card of the lot.

These are pink an green Marquee parallels.  I also had some doubles but more of Zion isn't bad.  That bottom Luminance is actually a bronze parallel bringing my parallel totals to four which I can't complain about.
I really like the variety found in Chronicles but as the set's focus is rookies you won't get the same variety with veterans.  That can leave you a bit wanting.  My Houston Rockets pulls were a bit "meh" though a numbered James Harden helped.
I was obviously lucky by grabbing the Pelicans.  The guy who pulled the Grizzlies also ended up with either 16 or 17 Ja Morants.  Definitely the best group break I've been a part of.

1995 Comic Images 20 Years of the Rocky Horror Picture Show Trading Cards

20 Years of the Rocky Horror Picture Show: The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a movie you either don't like, don't get, or really like.  I really like it so when I was making my eBay purchase of non-sport packs this seemed like a great one to pick up.  I know.  This photo will have many turning away or will smile as it bring back good memories.
The movie has everything you can ask for - music to include Meatloaf, stars to be Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry, a catchy song and dance with the Time Warp, and of course a sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania.
My sister and brother-in-law went to a midnight showing of the movie a few years ago.  They were in their fifties and loved it.  I want to do the same sometime soon.  These midnight showing are famous for folks dressing up, using props, and playing along with the movie.
The cards themselves are full bleed nice screen shots.  I'd hoped for a few more key scenes or characters but in a 90 card set it's easy to not get the cards you're hoping for.
The backs provide a short synopsis of the front and are a good snapshot of what is going on.  I really liked the cards and I may pick up the set at some point.  I know this isn't for everyone but I hope you were able to joy these on some level even if it just made you smile for a short time.

2020 Donruss Football Hanger Box

2020 Donruss Football: Finally got hold of these in the form of two hanger boxes found on the shelf.  This is my first hanger and my first look of these in hand.  I like them.  They have a familiar look but it works.  Lamar Jackson has big expectations this year and it'll be fun to see how he and Baltimore does.  They've already lost the all important test against Kansas City but it is a long season.
I like the simple design and the striping or graphics on the side borders.  Only thing missing is the player's position.  I thought my pull was a good one as well.
The backs are Donruss backs which mean boring.  At least we know going in what we'll get.
Retired legends!  You know I look forward to these.  I only wish there were more in the pack but I love seeing these guys on new cardboard.
Plenty of rookies and one is a Red Press Proof parallel you find in these boxes.
I really like both of these inserts.  Chiefs players should get cool cards like this and I'm sure the Mahomes card is in big demand.  I'm a big fan of the 1990 Donruss baseball card set so this retro insert is a big hit with me.
Love the Inducted insert and Cliff Harris isn't a guy you see nowadays so it is that much more fun.  You'll find nine players from the 2020 Hall of Fame class in this insert set.  The other two inserts, Elite Series and Power Formulas, didn't scan that great but they are good looking cards in hand.
The Larry Fitzgerald Dominators below is my favorite card from the box.  The colors really work and it is a sharp looking card.  This was a fun box with a good pull and plenty of variety.  I'm glad I finally got my hands on some.  I'll post the other hanger box later.  Enjoy your Sunday football!

2011 Bench Warmer Bubble Gum

2011 Bench Warmer Bubble Gum: These are perfect for October.  Why?  Because the Collecting Cutch blog is doing his annual Save Second Base campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer (October is breast cancer awareness month).  So you really can't go wrong with any of these cards but we'll start with Paige who looks to be a basketball fan and we are in the middle of the NBA Finals.
Another NBA fan while Jessica just looks all sporty.  The designs here are pretty simple but it's hard to screw up lucky ladies like these.  Really I do like the clean look that shows off the ladies.
The backs are easy to look at as well...on both accounts.  There are stats, a face close up and another full size photo.  Again this is a pretty clean look and I'm on board with it.
You'll see Bench Warmer cards incorrectly spelled as Benchwarmer at times.  A look at the Bench Warmer site will set you straight.  Also this particular set sometimes isn't listed as Bubble Gum but again the site has information available.  And the packs of these do contain wrapped pieces of gum hence the name.  These are always fun and I'm never bummed out opening Bench Warmer packs.  This one isn't my last for the month.  Because I'm supporting Collecting Cutch of course...

The Addams Family (2019) Movie Review

The Addams Family (2019) came out last year but I didn't get around to it until earlier this year.  I've been a big fan of the franchise from when I was a kid and watched each episode countless times. I also enjoyed the movies that came out in the nineties.  This animated offering gives the family a new origin story.  The laughs are familiar as the Addams' lifestyle conflicts with the "normal" families of the town they live in and Pugsley and Wednesday go through some coming of age moments familiar to many of us growing up.  The characterizations of the main characters is good.  The Addams Family is definitely a good watc.  I like this movie and it is a good way to start off October!
